BE THE BUSH OPPOSITION; 24/7 --- Status Report
Edited on Thu Jan-20-05 11:10 PM by understandinglife
If ever we need focus and solidarity, it is now.

I think many of our fellow citizens who read DU, BradBlog, VR, truthout, Raw Story, and other patriotic sites aspire to saving our franchise of democracy.

I think we all aspire to restoring a principled role for our Nation, in the service of humanity and the planet.

And, I think we can agree that we are almost out of time.

Rather than hurtling forward bashing Kerry or not; belittling Gore or not; brandishing Dean as savior or not.......how about we ALL do one thing. How about we take two steps in the direction of exhibiting that we understand the scale of the threat, and the need for solidarity in facing the threat.

First, state the threat unambiguously -- IT IS BUSH.

Don't argue nuances like -- it's really Scaife, Ahmanson and the necons; he's just a puppet on Cheney's string; it's the msm's fault; blahblahblah. We all know all that stuff.

In order to dismantle the threat in the most efficient way possible, we brand it, simply -- BUSH's.

In specific forms, call it what it is: Bush's war; Bush's neocon cabal; Bush's polluted environment; Bush's torture mandate; Bush's coronation; Bush's fiscal disaster; Bush's rigged vapor ballots; Bush's theocratic imperative; ......

Second, take a specific action -- send a truly poignant inauguration message to Bush and his neocon cabal by signing and forwarding to all your friends, family, colleagues the following petition:

http://impeachbush.pephost.org/site/PageServer?pagename=VTI_vote_now

Expect more action items to appear below the BE THE BUSH OPPOSITION; 24/7 banner.

He's all ours now and are we ever going to make him regret stealing elections, starting illegal wars, sanctioning torture........

We will operate BE THE BUSH OPPOSITION;24/7 under the principle of All and ONLY legal actions will be taken; ALL the time.

We will be unrelenting, but we do NOT sanction ANY violence.

Just the persistent application of knowledge, skill, passion and an overwhelming commitment to our American Constitution.

And, we will be systemic and massively parallel; a networked presence without needing any specific 'site'. Replicative posting of the banner and messages on numerous sites, publications, posters, programs.

No one person controls the effort; no one citizen is the spokesperson.

WE have solidarity in purpose and mission.

Success will be determined by every individual citizen who takes whatever action they can to BE THE BUSH OPPOSITION; 24/7.

(of course, if Skinner at DU and others want to help us recruit citizens and boost certain messages, petitions and other action items, that will be most helpful to the cause; in fact, I have a specific request pending with the DU administrators now regarding a petition several DUers and others have endorsed)

Peace.

5. Funny you should mention that...
As I left the DU gathering in DC tonite, a nearby table commented on a sign. I dropped a few big blue paperclips pointed to the one on my jacket and said you see this? It's The Bush Opposition. They picked em up and put em on, it was a thing of beauty.

8. Bob Herbert Focuses!
Link:

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/01/21/opinion/21herbert.html?oref=login&hp

"Even as President Bush was taking the oath of office and delivering his Inaugural Address beneath the clear, cold skies of Washington, the news wires were churning out stories about the tragic mayhem in Iraq. There is no end in sight to the carnage, which was unleashed nearly two years ago by President Bush's decision to launch this wholly unnecessary war, one of the worst presidential decisions in American history.

<snip>

"The disconnect between the over-the-top celebrations in Washington and the hideous reality of Iraq does not in any way surprise me. It's exactly what we should expect from the president and his supporters, who seem always to exist in a fantasy realm far removed from such ugly realities as war and suffering. In that realm you can start wars without having to deal with the consequences of them. You don't even have to pay for them. You can put them on a credit card."
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I'd say Mr Herbert has heard the calling!! -- BE THE BUSH OPPOSITION; 24/7

Remember everyone:

* is all ours, now. Let's let him know how UNITED we are in our disgust with him and his neocon cabal and how UNITED we are in our efforts to purge them.

* may in_DEED emerge as the greatest 'uniter' in the history of America -- something he can contemplate as he spends the final years of his life in prison.

Have a fantastic day.

10. We are in!
My son and I both signed the petition. Count us IN! :hi: :hi:

And get this.

Headline: COMPUTER KEYBOARD PROTESTS B*SH INAUGURATION!!!

Remember when the Clinton team left the WH in 2000 they took all of the W's out of the computer keyboards? Well, this week the W on my brand new laptop STOPPED WORKING (I have to really tromp on it to get the W to come out.) Even my laptop hates the shrub!
