1. You guys deserve a lot of credit. My son lives in Chicago, so I know
what the weather was like out there....and anyone could see the snow by looking at the pics.
Great work!!!!!

4. Thanks, it sure was chilly but I wouldn't have missed for the world
It was a lot of fun with lots of cars beeping in solidarity as they passed and shouting out encouragement (although they passed on our offer of a free sign if they joined us on the corner). Then when it was done you felt like you earned your day's keep on mother earth.

3. I feel a weird bond with all of the other protestors...
I'm in the middle of rural Indiana, so it's great to know there are so many other people like me out there. Great pics, and thanks for your great work despite the weather.

6. Indiana has become a very spooky state even to drive through
You're a brave soul to be a progressive there.

5. Thank you for sharing! What dedication...it looked soooo cold!
The rally in West L.A. had quite a large turn-out, and since the weather was cooperative, there appeared to be over 1,000 people! It lasted about 4+ hours...and there were still about 100 people there when I drove by at 9:30 pm! The feedback from the six lanes of traffic which passed by the rally seemed overwhelmingly favorable (about 70%+ anti-Shrub/anti-War). Never saw anything THAT "supported" by most people.

Can't wait to check out the other threads and see what others in other cities did too!

8. Wow. 1000 is a very nice size rally.
The support was very strong in Chicago too. Very, very few negative responses by passers by. And yes it was cold in Chicago but thankfully no rivers of mud to contend with and at the end of the day I'd rather not have to breath the air in either city.

10. sarasota fl protests made my local news and they even did interviews
with the protesters. They also showed the cars driving by and honking their horns to show their support. I do love Chicago, Aurora is where I grew up and used to visit the city every weekend.

14. W. 95th & S. Western
Between Chicago (Beverly Hills/Morgan Park) and Suburban Evergreen Park. We think we were the only protest in Chicago - is that true?

15. Hey there, Sabra!
Yeah, it was just a neighborhood action on 95th and Western like Lydia said. As I understand it, no one really wanted to organize a major event in Chicago for fear of deflecting some of the Chicagoans that would otherwise go to DC. In fact another 6 of our group went to DC for yesterdays action and another 6 went to the capitol on January 5th-6th to petition Senators for support directly and then support Conyers, Boxer et al on the 6th

I think we need to connect up with 'youse guys' on the Northside sometime. We're really committed to organizing locally here in Chicagoland to get a genuine progressive base. The time is really getting ripe for it. I think people in Il are really getting sick of electing democratic candidates that are pro business, anti labor, pro military, anti public education, etc, etc.

By the way, tomorrow we're going to be attending the Creative America Project grassroots training seesion at the Bailiwick Repertory Theatre, 1229 W. Belmont. Anybody you know going? Still time to register if any body is interested. Sounds like a very interesting organization.
