Poll question: Extremely hypothetical question: if you lived in Iraq...
would you try and vote? If not, why not? Also, what do you think the turnout will be?

I realize there are many hypothetical factors that might render this question almost meaningless. Then again, I know that we in this forum are especially passionate about voting (and, of course, trying to ensure that the votes actually count).

Also, as someone from a country where we sometimes only get 50% turnout when no one's life is threatened, I'll be interested to see what the turnout will be.

1. very hard to answer that
Because we have no idea what it is like to live with that level of violence around us. Also, I imagine it depends a great deal on where you live and how strong the insurgents are in that particular area.

Anyway, I voted yes because I believe in voting, but I have no concept of what it would be like to actually be in that position.

2. I wouldn't go within miles of a voting booth. Besides
Iraqis know this election is as much of a sham as any of the Saddam elections. So you don't get to know who your candidates are until you go into the booth? What's THAT?

3. No way.
I would be saying the elections are illegitimate and that people should boycott.

4. If I were Iraqi, I think I would be fighting the Americans

Heck, I don't even like Bush in this country, why would I like him invading my country if I were an Iraqi?

Of course, the key is if you are a sunni, shiite, or kurd.

Sunnis have a lot more to gain by fighting and not voting than the Shiites and Kurds.
