C. Rice a liar & warmonger-not a diplomat! Boxer/Kerry need LETTERS NOW!
We have Sunday/Monday to give Boxer and Kerry a huge boost in opposing liar and warmonger Condoleeza Rice for Secretary of State--and to push other Senators to support them. The Democrats insisted on 9 hours of debate! There will be many great speeches, and possibly even a filibuster...if we push hard. This drama will take place Tues./Wed.

Boxer is critically important on publicizing election reform. We need to support her and enhance her power. An outpouring on the C. Rice nomination would do that. ONLY TWO Democrats on the Foreign Relations Committee voted against Rice--Boxer and Kerry! Biden and others voted FOR. Diane Feinstein (CA-Dem) will be giving Rice a friendly intro to the full Senate! (What an abomination!)

Send this letter to all Senators on Sun./Mon. (Democrats first priority--make it personal to your own Senators - re-write as you wish).

Dear Senator ____:

The war in Iraq is by far the worst and most disastrous mistake that the Bush regime has made, and Condoleeeza Rice, whom George Bush has nominated for Secretary of State, has been responsible for conveying the false justifications for this war to the American people and to the Congress.

We need a Secretary of State whose word we can trust, and who can be trusted by other countries. Condoleeza Rice does not meet that job description.

I oppose her appointment as Secretary of State, and I support the efforts of Senators Barbara Boxer and John Kerry to obtain answers from her on the matter of misleading America into war. I support their votes against her appointment, and I urge you to do the same in the full Senate.

Thousands of Americans have been killed and wounded, over 100,000 Iraqis have been killed and many have been imprisoned and tortured, in this war—a war based on falsehoods, and a war that also holds grave consequences for America's reputation as a just and conservative country for whom the use of a force is a last resort.

The administration is now stuck in a quagmire in Iraq, similar to the one in Vietnam in which over 50,000 US soldiers and over one million Vietnamese were killed—and now the regime is spoiling for war in additional countries.

Nearly 60% of the American people oppose the Bush Regime's war in Iraq. The American people cannot continue to pay for these reckless and bloody policies, and we can no longer tolerate war crimes being committed in our name.

Ms. Rice has also been less than candid about the failures of this administration to protect the U.S. from the 9/11 attack, and supports policies of completely unethical interference in the internal affairs of other countries, such as Haiti and Venezuela.

A regime that holds power on the tenuous grounds of massive vote suppression against minority voters in violation of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, on the further tenuous grounds of a non-transparent election system that is controlled by partisans of the regime, and that currently has almost 60% of the American people opposing its war policy, would be well advised not to commit further arrogant acts against the consent of the governed, such as nominating for Secretary of State a person whose lies have resulted in countless unnecessary deaths.

Sincerely,

1. Kick- Great post
I already sent e-mails to my two Senators and several other Dems, but I think I'll send some more. I'll do anything to help Boxer (my new hero).

One thought: I don't think the word "war-mongers" should be used in the e-mails. It's a dead give-away that the letter-writer is predisposed to a more liberal viewpoint. The politicians will take more notice if they get a deluge of letters that articulate a more "middle-of-the-road" perspective. My thinking is this: They automatically assume that the liberal left is up in arms about Rice. If they think the average "couch potato, non-mobilized" voter is taking notice, however, that will be even more "scary" to them and more persuasive. It's the staff people that go through the letters and summarizes what's coming in from the public and this may influence how it's presented to their boss.

2. Well, maybe...yes, strategy is important. Use your best judgment.
Always use your best judgment in any communication. I definitely agree with that.

Mainly, we're trying to goose the more scaredy-cat but antiwar Dems to support. We want to boost the power of all progressives to stand up and fight. So I don't know about mincing words. We want to fire them up. (But if you think they won't READ it, maybe you're right.)

We're sending it to Republicans as a warning--the MAJORITY opposes Bush war policy; "warmongering" is EXACTLY what the Bush extremists are doing; and they may well lose moderate REPUBLICAN support if they continue. Not that they care too much--they have the election system sewn up. But I also think their power is brittle--not based on "consent of the governed." They need to hear it, and that Boxer is NOT a radical--she's actually mainstream on the war (even if cowardly or war profiteering Democrats--like Feinstein-- aren't backing her).

We also want to give warning to people like Feinstein and Biden. WE are the majority! Nearly 60% of Americans agree with us on the war. And among Dem voters, that's probably SEVENTY TO EIGHTY PERCENT. They are way out of the mainstream of DEMOCRATS. And if they keep this up--fawning over BushCons--they are going to fuel campaigns to get THEM out, and to purge the Democratic Party of their ilk.

"The average 'couch potato, non-mobilized' voter." Hm. I don't think that of the 60 million who voted to oust Bush Inc. I think they--we--were quite mobilized to repudiate war criminals, liars and thieves.

It comes down to election fraud again. IF THE TRUTH WERE KNOWN (and Boxer is very critical to it getting known), the mainstream, the average American, voted Bush out.

4. Don't forget the repubs! They need to know that we are watching them too!
And we ARE watching. VOTE's database will log how each one votes on these types of things. We'll be able to see what they do and when they do it!

They need to fear us because we have the knowledge and knowledge is power!

6. Keep kicked through early week! Showdown Tues/Wed. KICK!
For those who think this is not related to election fraud, note the final paragraph of the sample letter on Rice, above:

"A regime that holds power on the tenuous grounds of massive vote suppression against minority voters in violation of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, on the further tenuous grounds of a non-transparent election system that is controlled by partisans of the regime, and that currently has almost 60% of the American people opposing its war policy, would be well advised not to commit further arrogant acts against the consent of the governed, such as nominating for Secretary of State a person whose lies have resulted in countless unnecessary deaths."

Bush has no "consent of the people." He was not elected. He is a fraud whose backers have seized power in the U.S. The American people do NOT support this extremist war policy!

7. Excellent point, Peace Patriot, that Bush is not legitimate...
Here is my own letter, sent last week, to Obama and Durbin--I really feel the line in the sand that the whole world is watching is the issue of torture. The Dems must stand against this radical change, and we must support them, or the whole world will think WE approve of Abu Ghraib.

"Dear Senator Durbin and Senator Obama, Wed Jan 19

PLEASE, dear friends! Please, my fellow Americans! Please, for the sake of our nation, for our future, in honor of our past.

THIS MUST BE OUR LINE IN THE SAND!!

NO ONE WHO HAS WRITTEN TO DEFINE THIS NEW TORTURE POLICY MUST BE CONFIRMED WITHOUT PROTEST!!!!

This includes both Gonzales, and now Rice, after learning through Barbara Boxer yesterday that Rice wrote the letter to take OUT language forbidding torture from your Intelligence bill!!

God help us!! WHAT would that say to the American people? WHAT would it say to the world??!!

"NO!" to Rice!!

"NO!" to Gonzales!!

And "NO!! to TORTURE!!!!

Even if we do not have the majority, it is time for ALL DEMOCRATS WHO BELIEVE IN DEMOCRACY AND DEMOCRATIC VALUES to STAND TOGETHER AGAINST THIS EVIL!!!!

For the love of God.

PLEASE."
