13. Just speculating....
Stickers could be used to cover punches in a punch card so that no vote for, say, president would register.

...or maybe bar-codes?

I don't know...need to wait and see.

Edited on Wed Jan-26-05 06:53 PM by hootinholler
As I remember it from recount efforts stories, was that 'errant' marks were covered on opti-scan ballots with stickers. The ballots were not allowed to be closely examined. Perhaps they've been able to examine them? I'm pretty sure a star member could find it this forum.

I've been waiting for the lawsuits to fly over the of chain of custody issues in Greene? Co.

54. They were applied over the ovals that were blackened for Kerry/Edwards.
And the ovals for Bush were then filled in, so that the "hand count" would match the "machine count" and the county would not have to be fully recounted by hand. That's what the stickers do to the ballots.

70. That was my first thought as well but
Edited on Wed Jan-26-05 10:02 PM by dbDESIGN
if the stickers were used that way how could the fraudsters think that no one would notice?

So the scenario could be:
-on election night legitimate votes for Kerry were electronically switched to Bush.
-come the recount the ballots need to be fixed, cover-up the Kerry vote and black-in Bush to get the counts to match.

If the hand-counts were as fraudulent as they appear to be wouldn't they be able to (non-randomly) select a set of legitimate ballots that would give a clean count?

So the next scenario to consider is that the stickers were applied to manually shift the votes on election night before the ballots were counted the first time. If the recount DOES select some ballots at random some of the mutilated ballots are seen, but the count works out as the fiddled ballots are counted as Bush just as the machine counts them.

So maybe this is what was happening in that locked down county? (Is my geography off?)

Also: What happens if one group is electronically switching votes at the same time as another group is manually shifting votes?

Is anyone inspecting all the ballots to get a count of how many have stickers?

Edit: On further reflection either scenario seems plausible to me. Apply stickers election night for manual fraud or apply stickers before the recount to obscure electronic fraud. In either case it adds up to FRAUD!

"...if the stickers were used that way how could the fraudsters think that no one would notice?"

The recount volunteers DID notice. That's what the affidavits are all about. Read the article.

87. The stickers suggest the fraud was a manual
switching of votes before the first count when the fraudsters hoped or expected there would be no hand recount and therefore no detection of the altered ballots. As you so rightly point out the alterations were noticed and provide an excellent basis for further investigaton. This development is great news as it provides hard physical evidence to go with the copious statistical evidence brought forward by TruthIsAll and others. If the alterations were done in anticipation of the recount it is such a clumsy effort we should have no problems catching these guys.

As for reading the article it was the lines:

“A Republican board member said the stickers were put on election night”.

in the article that got me to wondering if the fraud was a manual effort on election night. What little explantion of the stickers there is in the article by the BOE doesn't seem very convining to me.

Place a white sticker over the K/E black mark and create a black mark for B/C. Viola! Instant vote switch! This is evidence of FRAUD!!

115. Yes! And that's why Kerry won NONE of the 190 Clermont precincts
Kerry won NONE of the Warren "Lockdown" County precincts, either.

Of course, the Bush shill, Mitofsky, would call this simply "Democratic Overstatement." He said he didn't detect fraud anywhere.

24. Well, All I can say...
Is that after a month of crap and threats, this story finally has been birthed. I am going to nap for about a year now and nurse my high fever.

I have sort of been afraid to post at forums since my last attempt at another, unnamed place, ate me alive for some reason...um, I am on the same side. In any case, you guys seem to be a friendly crowd, so I thought I would stop by. I found this, lmao, so i thought this thread would be appropriate:)

The evidence is compelling and we have provided it to various authorities as I worked on it. Now, should someone actually do something about this, well... I imagine the trolls will climb out of their caves to devour me whole and attack me and the sources in any way possible. Hang on to your hats, this will be a really bumpy ride.

Just remember, the three counties that decided the election... one was Warren, the lockdown, one was Butler (massive unreported problems), and one is the county in this story, which is by far the most compelling story I have seen.

Okay, going to bed and dream my fever away. Thanks for liking us. At least someone does, lmao.

31. yessum...
I am the other reporter at raw... Larisa... hiding behind John usually, lmao.

I cannot tell you more without breaking the story before it breaks... but it is about that third county, i just wanted you to know and you got it right about the stickers... big time... and there is more sadly than the stickers. So hang in there. I actually have a 102 fever, but I trying to fix a program I have which seem to have lost its mind today. I really should go to bed.

Plus, I am holding electronic hands with one of the witnesses. I promised I would be around. They may be a good number, but they live in separate locations and a few are a bit worried, for obvious reasons. So might hang here for a few more minutes, but then I really need to get to bed and sleep through this alternative reality we are living in. Does anyone think that we have all taken the red pill but are still stuck in the blue world?

111. What does "Imao" mean?
You've used it in every one of your many posts in this thread and I've been sitting here scratching my head for ten minutes trying to figure out what it means. Please translate so I can sleep tonight. This is why I don't use those online abbreviations. They drive me nuts. I won't tell you how long it took me and how much sleep I lost before I finally figured out what "btw" and "rotfl" and "imho" mean. "imho" means "in my humble opinion." Is this similar to "Imao"? Does it mean "in my admirable opinion" or "in my admitted opinion" or "in my (something that starts with an a) opinion"? But then why would you have capitalized the letter I every time? Do you see what I've been going through? Do you see what kind of misery you inflict on people when you use those silly, maddeningly confusing online abbreviations? This was actually a category on Jeopardy once. Anything that's on Jeopardy is hard.

Can you help us out in California? The Repubs, SF Chron and SacBee are smearing Kevin Shelley, our SofS with all kinds of blown-out-of-proportion issues and are trying to get him to resign. HAVA is investigating him for "misuse" of HAVA funds.

Shelley is no angel, but it is definitely a witchhunt - they want to replace him with a Republican and then go to redistricting - next thing you know, California will mysteriously become a red state.

46. This should be happening over and over around the country
The disgraceful Republican party thinks that because they have stifled the media, thwarted any attempt at any reasonable recount anywhere, and run out the clock past the inauguration that their illegal election fraud actions will slip away unnoticed.

I think--and hope and truly believe--that incidents like this will begin to surface across the country. And the courts and the media and public officials will have an increasingly difficult time ignoring every incident.

48. I think this was already mentioned on votecobb.org
But affidavits are of course, more convincing!

So are we talking the old 10-votes-per-precinct switch or something more concentrated on a few precincts in the county?

10 votes per precinct switched from Kerry to Bush in every precinct would be much more than enough for 100,000-vote Bush margin.

I will say prayers you get to feeling better and for the folks that you are so worried about. If you need us, we are here, we will try our best to spread this story far and wide.

I may have overlooked it in the article, but did you include that this has been turned over to the Judiciary Committee? What about the FBI, if you give us names of who was given the information we can include that in our emails to the corporate media whores and Boxer and Kerry. If the names of those who have stalled the investigation are named maybe we can shame them and their agencies into action.

Bless you and rest well! :yourock:

Since the witness didn't have her affidavit written yet, the Buzz journalist requested it be deleted for the protection of the witness(es). I couldn't figure out why it took over two weeks to sign the affidavit, but now I realize it was more than one witness and several others have stepped forward. Don't be naive to think Conyers and Arnebeck didn't know about this already, this was floating around the circles a while ago.

78. That is correct, but...
This was leaked and then I was contacted by John Dean, who wanted me to look into it. So I asked that all reference to this story be removed for the protection of the sources while I checked it out... as more developed, this became about more sources and protecting them... there were more people initially who came forward, and one by one they went away. So the ones who stayed, who went through snow storms to fax their statements, to find someone to witness their statements... all while one source leaked the entire story to the BOE chief.... this was, needless to say, a very tough situation... to those sources who stuck it out, thank you.

One of them is a single mother, who has been unable to find work...although highly qualified... hmmm? That is how we treat our honest citizens. She could not afford to pay for the Kinkos fax machine, but she paid for it... so thank you to them, the ones who stayed and wanted this story out. They are the focus, they should be getting non-stop thanks everywhere possible.

92. I mailed too, used the Subject Line "When does it officially become
"Vote Tampering?"

I had a small intorductory paragraph stating that the state that nothing "improper" happened was in the news again -- stressed that this was about making sure all parties who were complacent in any wrong-doing are held accountable, and stated that the US has no business going to other parts of the world to "spread democracy" if we can't even get it right here.

Sent to several places, including NPR programs, Diane Rehm, Several Congress people (ones I've e-mailed before), Michael Moore, among others, and tonight plan on many others as well.

93. Important question re: Ohio elections. Are little stickers used there?
Edited on Thu Jan-27-05 12:28 PM by McCamy Taylor
Does Ohio authorize the use of little stickers on ballots if someone checks the wrong circle and wants to change a vote? If so, this is an open invitation to vote fraud, since it allows anyone with access to the ballots to change any votes after the fact, however it is not in itself proof of fraud. If Ohio does not authorize the use of little stickers on ballots this is 100% fraud.

Is there someone in Ohio who knows the answer to this question?

118. Stickers
I work the polls on election day (in Maine) which uses optical scan. Our procedure when a voter makes a mistake in marking a ballot is to mark that ballot "spoiled" and give the voter a fresh ballot. All "spoiled" ballots are saved. I can't imagine any state where it would be legal to use stickers to allow a voter to correct their vote on their original ballot.

108. This story is the smoking gun as far as fraud is concerned.
If Kerry/Edwards votes were turned into Bush/Cheney votes by using stickers to block the Kerry/Edwards filled-in oval, that's fraud. It's not an accident, an "oops," a "we didn't know," it's criminal activity. This is a major development that must be investigated by the F.B.I. Of all the reports from Ohio, this is the most disturbing and most incriminating evidence to date.

Only then, instead of affixing stickers over Gore ovals on optiscan ballots, they were stacking up punch-card ballots and mass-punching them through for Bush. This is why there was an anomalous number of Bush-Gore overvote ballots in Florida, and ALL of them were in punch-card counties.

Maybe we can make that committee investigate Ken Blackwell in the name of fairness.

HAVA (help america vote act) is investigating such burning issues as Shelley hiring "Democratic operatives" and "misusing" funds to promote voting in minority districts.

The SF Chronicle is saying he should resign even if they don't find anything. It is such a witchhunt.

125. It seems too small just to say "Thank you" to those working on this
Edited on Fri Jan-28-05 01:33 AM by Nothing Without Hope
This is too huge and too important a gift for that: all the effort, courage, integrity, and perseverence dedicated to the goal of ultimately saving democracy in this country. I am both humbled and exhilarated by the story, including the supplementary comments made and at the Raw Story posting site.

Message to LaLa__RawRaw: I hope you are aware that in posting this story here at DU, you have expanded your circle of friends and supporters. This is more than just a place people chat and rant and exchange informatin. We are a community of people who want to DO something, PROGRESSIVE Democrats who retain a hope for healing this country. One of our shared hopes is for the successful investigation and exposure of the election fraud which has made a mockery of the "democratic" vote process in this country. And because DU is a community that shares this goal with you and the others working on this investigation, you should be aware that you can ask us for help. There are experts of all types here as well as "regular" people with hearts and minds and willingness to pitch in where they are needed. And it does sound like you can use some help.

It's not enough, but it's all I can say: Thank you.

126. Regarding Jeannine Tater's Affidavit, points 4-12...
"Union Township Machine Scan of Ballots" (points 4-12)

I understand the distinction between "votes cast" vs. "ballots cast," but I'm finding it difficult to contrive an explanation as to how two separate breakdowns of the total count of 1190 were produced. When the 1190 count is interpreted as "ballots cast" a breakdown of "678 page one ballots and 512 page two ballots" is given. When the count is interpreted as "votes cast," particularly for president/vice president, a breakdown of one vote for Badnarik/Campagna, 878 for Bush/Cheney, 305 for Kerry/Edwards, three undervotes, two overvotes, and one write-in is given in the Clarmont Election Night Abstract that Tater references:

http://www.clermontelections.org/pdf/election2004/President-VicePresident.pdf

I'm not really making a different point from the one Tater made in her statement - I'm just highlighting it. Contorted explanations aside, it seems to me that one breakdown has been produced out of thin air.

131. Former Clermont County, Ohio resident!
Oh my gosh--Clermont County is where we moved from in Ohio! That whole area is major gays/guns/god territory, so this is totally believeable.
So glad we didn't vote there this time..........

133. Election Fraud Ohio
I've follow this site everyday regarding the vote fraud but
first time
I've commented.

I wondered if anyone has thought of contacting Seymour Hirsh
with the
"New Yorker" magazine. He is definately not
intimidated by the GOP or the White House bunch.

Maybe he'd do a story on Ohio Election Fraud.

142. What a strange comment.
Raw Story covers an incredibly wide array of news stories, including those that are interesting to liberals and progressives.

"like any story against this administration." Well, you won't see them on FOX, will you?

A clue for you, since your hobby is "U.S. and world affairs", Iraq is spelled with a Q... the Q key is next to the W key.

140. Stories that go no futher !
The problem when I come to DU and see these stories is that I know they will most likley go no futher ! Its just frustrating ,and I tip my hat to those who keep trying to get the truth out on the 2004 election ,however its so apprent by now that the MSM is not going to pay any attension to any negative stories about the gang of thieving thugs running our country , that it almost seems like a waste of time .I know its not ,because telling the truth is never a waste of time. Ignoring it is a sin ,and at this point in history for the most part those in a position of getting the truth out are not doing their job ,for whatever reason ,fear of losing their jobs ,or fear for their lives ,or just plain wanting to be liked and be in the loop with the Wasington insiders ,to me they are the ones really letting the American people down ,we deserve better .For what these top media writers get paid for their joobs they should all be fired ,except the ones responsible for who gets these jobs ,is just as invovled. What a freakin mess. When dyiing on te cross jesus said forgiive then Father for they know not what they do ,well these guys do know what they are donig ,so I guess we know where they are going !
Sincerely NicRic

141. Maybe SW Ohio DUers should visit the Cincinnati FBI office as
citizens. And ask the FBI to investigate.

143. Would this be the FBI office
that supposedly "investigated" Conyers' allegations regarding the Ohio Triad tech?

I am thinking that the FBI is like the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.

144. Not sure Greene County is north of Cincinnati, closer to Columbus
It is the FBI office referenced in the letter to Conyers saying there was no more to investigate. The point is Conyers wrote a latter, SW Ohio DUers can pop in. I never discount what a man will do if asked by a female :*

At least the Easter Bunny leaves colorful eggs and the Tooth Fairy leaves a quarter.....

The FBI just leaves your ass feeling sore.
