Thank you letter from Boxer.
Dear John,

I can't thank you enough for all of your effective work during the recent debate over Condoleezza Rice's nomination as Secretary of State. Your support means so much to me.

More than 94,000 Americans from across the country signed my petition and stood together to demand the truth from Condoleezza Rice. It was truly an overwhelming response -- much more than I could have anticipated.

And you made a difference. You gave me the voice I needed to ask the tough questions during the Foreign Relations Committee's confirmation hearings. And you gave the entire United States Senate the voice it needed to take its "advice and consent" responsibility seriously. In fact, Condoleezza Rice received 13 votes against her confirmation -- the most votes against any Secretary of State's nomination since 1825.

Two weeks ago, who would have thought that Condoleezza Rice's nomination would allow us to have a full debate about our policy in Iraq? Who would have thought that we'd have the chance to truly expose all of the misstatements and misjudgments that led us into that conflict and continue to plague this Administration to this very day?

The Republican Senate leadership intended to easily approve Dr. Rice's nomination in a routine voice vote last Thursday afternoon, after President Bush's Inauguration and before the Inaugural balls got into full swing.

But you didn't let them ram this nomination through the Senate. You forced the Republican leadership to give us the debate we wanted on the floor of the United States Senate, and you gave us the opportunity we desperately needed to hold Dr. Rice and the Bush Administration accountable for their failures in Iraq and in the war on terrorism.

The American people deserved no less.

As you and I both know, this is just one more of the many battles we'll be having as we fight for our nation's future. So I ask you to stick with me -- we're going to need to work together to make our voices heard and build a better America.

I look forward to standing with you in the days, weeks, and months ahead.

In Friendship,

5. I think we should send these to many of our 'friends' in DC...
Of course, they will just go to staffers in the end, but those staffers are sure gonna take a look at DU and become familiar with us! I think it's a way to get some exposure there in the DC offices. It's a small little 'thank you', like a bouquet of flowers, but gets OUR NAME there!

4. I would be careful, they even accused her for using this for solicitation
of Senate funds.
I think giving her support and countering any bad editorials with letters is the best way to show our gratitude for her work.
The opponents are like piranhas.

10. Not this letter. It was during the Rice debate. They said she used her
questioning and upholding her duties as a fundraising solicitation.
The Repubs will dig up anything and use it against her. On the other hand, a coffee mug certainly would make them the laughing stock, if they should bring it up as "accepting gifts".

7. Its the american way don't you know - we support the politicans
that support our efforts. If support means gifts, thank you cards or campaign contributions, so be it!

We don't pay off our president to get jobs on his cabinet or ambassadorships or lucrative contracts. We don't steal elections for him so that we can get the contracts for more elections.

F*ck what they think! Boxer deserves all of our love and respect!

16. duh'governator's plans - from what I've seen today.
I have an article on duh'governator's entire plan for California. I may have the link tonight, if it doesn't show up on DU before I get it.

The article talks about his plan to circumvent the State Assembly and go for a citizens petition that will allow for a broad sweeping referendum. In this plan there's state wide gerrymandering, and the privatization of the Calpers retirement system.

Take a look at the 2 items presented. You're looking at a beta test of the neoCon plan for the federal system. How is duh'governator going to pull this off? Could it be that he might falsify signatures to get the number needed for the referendum? Then could it be that when the actual vote is taken the tabulators will show overwhelming voter "support" for HIS programs? And then would duh'governator have his Man-date?

Not sure if anyone's seen this type of pattern before but I thought I just toss it out there for people to think about.

It's not like the neoCons actually have any ORIGINAL plays in their play book. No, that would be asking for creative thinking, something they've proven to have limited stock in.

Senator Barbara Boxer
112 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510
(202) 224-3553

She has other offices in California at the bottom of this page, but they (senators & congress members) are in DC now.

11. See this DU post on Gonzales nomination for list of ALL DEM SENATORS...
Edited on Thu Jan-27-05 05:00 PM by Peace Patriot
and their DC and local addresses, tel, fax & email. This list is right there, and the list of the 13 who voted against Rice. I've also provided a link to all Repub Senators and their DC contact. info.:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=203&topic_id=306206#306813

We need letters of thanks to Boxer and the 13, letters of reprimand to the others, encouragement to vote no on Gonzales, and I'm mentioning that election fraud is the reason for these outrageous appointments. The BushCons need have no fear of the voters.
