Two Worlds
I feel like I live in two worlds. The one world is this one, where we all know election fraud occurred. The other world is when I leave the computer, and go out into the general populace. It's not a real warm and comfy feeling when you start talking to other people about what has happened. The blank stares, the walking away, the general feeling of making people uncomfortable. Or then there's this:
I just left a restaurant where I left a couple of Deception Dollars and a few "What are they hiding?" bumper stickers. The barmaid thought they were cute. That's nice...they're cute. See that's the whole problem. This is not a cute situation and I feel like I'm out there alone knowing what's going on. I smiled and said yes they were cute, but they had a lot of really good websites she should check out. Ah...huh. She left them there. Well, so did I.
Does anyone else feel this way, or am I just starting to lose it over all this? I need some ideas to get my point across, or maybe I just need to know that others are going through the same experiences.
Feeling very frustrated today!

5. I couldn't either.
But I know what you mean about trying to get the message out. People don't really get how serious this is. I asked my friend what she thought of her tax dollars going to torture Iraqis and she just kind of blew it off. I just don't understand how they can not care about this stuff. They stole the election, they're killing and torturing people in our name, they're running the economy into the ground, they've made America a joke...how can people not care.

Its frustrating as hell to go out and try to talk to people who only watch the corporate media...they are totally clueless and next to impossible to talk to. That is exactly what the GOP needs...clueless lemmings. Its sooooo maddening.

9. Exactly.
They don't get how serious it is. How can you relate months of research and knowledge into bits small enough for a person to digest. The answer is, you can't. What is going on is so beyond what the American people are accustomed to, they can't possibly absorb it, let alone believe it. The people have become very complacent, even though things are getting tougher all the time. Not only that, they are busy, just trying to make ends meet. This whole *watch is very time consuming. I'm a single person. My responsibilities are myself, my job, and my numerous pets. I have diverted some of my energies from my job to this effort. Instead of doing work at home, I write emails, research, etc. This whole issue is much more important.
It is frustrating, though. My greatest hope is that we will succeed without anyone even knowing we did anything. Because if the majority of the people ever realize how bad things are, it may be too late.

3. I have a friend from my old job. A Navy vet from the Nam era.
He never took voting too seriously before. Totally uninformed. Didn't know the difference between Saddam and Osama or Iraq and Al Qaida. I slowly straightened him out on that. Got him to vote for Kerry. Explained the election fraud stuff, etc. to him. Talked yesterday about the VVPB legislation in Congress and showed him a letter from my state senator on the subject. So he says to me, "So how long do you think we've been a banana republic?"

This is progress, but it's much harder to get there with total strangers! Hats off to anyone who's been able to! Post your stories here so we can learn.

6. I empathize with your frustration..Like the invasion of the body snatchers

There seem to be so many zombies out there so unaware of what is really going on.
I think that fliers with the horrifying pictures of the wounded and disfigured soldiers and Iraqi children is what it will take to bring the reality to these people. This is the reality that they do not want to see, and this is the reality that they must be forced to see.
Once they are forced to see that reality, they will be more willing to see the reality of what he is doing here at home...destroying health care, the economy, the environment, etc. You know..it is like they have to be forced to see that the Emperor is naked!!!

EDIT: One horrifying picture is worth a million words.

7. Ah, Grasshopper. World often present difficulty.
I hear ya, though. Really, I do.

I'm learning that keeping it simple is a good start.

I'll innocently (very important) throw out a question, or make an observation that appeals to some homespum/Rockwell-esque sentiment.

Few will "get it" right away. But that's OK.

Better they go away, come back, and actually ask YOU about these concerns.

22. That's why I like the Deception dollars.
There are so many websites on them, and I figure, maybe some will actually go to them and read. For every person I inform, I figure they will inform another, and so on, and so on.....

8. The "America is the land of the free" has been indoctrinated
Edited on Sat Jan-29-05 08:17 PM by Democrat Dragon
to much to people when they were kids. People think that "It can't ever happen here!", "This is a free country, man! my rights are being protected!", and "what do you think America is? A third world country with a dictador?". This same optimism has said to have been rampant throught Germany in the 30's. The government and corporations are also distracting people with holidays, materialism, the CMWs, over working, entertainment, and making harder for people to get a higher education.

And then you have the apathetic people who say "Ah, I just vote for the lesser of two evils", "My vote dosen't matter", and "It's the government, what are you going to do about it?,and it's not like they even care".

Now, imagine if 9/11 MIHOP shit hit the fan!

10. There are those
with questions about the vote and doubts about the election, but they have allowed their thoughts to be submerged by the silence of the media. On inauguration day, I wore a black armband to work, and received several queries about it. When I explained and spoke of election fraud, I received responses of relief and surprise that (1) there were actually ongoing investigations into fraud and (2) that they were not alone in their feeling that the outcome of the election 'just wasn't right'. One of our nurses wrote down several progressive sites (including DU) on her hand to investigate later.

The corporate media has done its job well. Many who are on our side still have no idea what has gone on under the veil of compliant media.

12. I wonder what it is going to take to get these people's
attention? Do you think when we invade Iran, that will do it? Do you think when they finally realize that PNAC wasn't a Dem dream up but really has been out there since the early 90's, in theory, and now is in practice? I wonder if everyone else had 15 and 19 year old sons if they might fight this a little more "worth paying attention to"? I can't sleep at night but still haven't figured out what to do. Do those who supported W think their sons won't be called up (or daughters for that matter)?

18. I teach ten year olds.
It occurred to me the other day that some of these precious little ones could be involved in Iraq if this misadministration is not squelched. As I looked at their little faces, it made me feel quite ill.

11. I live in Columbus, Ohio
And I saw and heard voter fraud first hand.

Now, I feel like I am living in very bad movie that has the plot of; You see a murder but nobody including the police believe your story and you see the murderer on the news every night bragging about what a great guy he is.

We must keep up the fight.

15. I tried to engage my MIL in a talk about the election fraud
and just take a guess why she told me she voted for * ........

Because she couldn't stand the thought that Theresa Heinz-Kerry would be first lady! My MIL admitted she didn't like what * has done. Her church was pushing * and she really thinks Laura is a gracious lady.

You know, I thought my MIL was a smart lady. Outspoken and misguided, but still pretty smart. But now I realize that isn't even the case :(

I just didn't know what to say other than "I like Laura * too, but I can't stand her husband and as a country, we can't live thru another 4 years of his crap." What do you say to reasoning like hers? And you know there are millions of others out there just like her.

20. I guess you'd have to say that T was not going to be the Pres.
I mean I don't know how you respond to that kind of question. If you tried to tell a person like that about dear Laura's past, they would never believe you, just like most people don't know that dear Georgie has a problem with alcohol. I don't understand how many people decide who should be the leader of their country. It doesn't make sense in many cases!

21. I used to engage in discussions with a couple of my Republican
friends, but shortly after the election, one of them said to me that she had decided she could have come to terms with John Kerry as President but never, never could she have come to terms with Teresa Heinz Kerry as First Lady - and ended it with, "you have to admit, Laura Bush is a class act" and my response was, "The time has come for us to stop discussing politics" and honestly, we haven't discussed politics - or anything else really, since.

No, I do not think LB is a class act, and frankly I have a lot more respect for an outspoken, strong woman who doesn't kowtow to her husband, the media, or anyone else! THK is a class act in my book and I have zero respect for LB - for MANY reasons - the least of which is her choice of men.
