I am new to politics and new to DU
and all I want to say is thank you.

I registered to vote for the first time 2 years ago so I could vote Kucinich in our primary. I have to say, one thing * was good for was the GOTV effort. I done got out and voted DEMOCRAT. I devoted time and money to the Kucinich campaign and was educated on the issues, especially that of our media. Here is my first experience in realizing that the media was not on the people's side:

http://www.indymedia.org/en/2003/12/110202.shtml

"Regardless of the media's lack of coverage, he's raised nearly 5 million dollars in less than a year for the campaign, and has the 2nd busiest campaign website on the net ( http://www.alexa.4djk.com/ and http://www.alexa.com ), and his book "A Prayer for America" is a New York Times bestseller. He came in 2nd place on MoveOn's primary in June of this year - only 4 MONTH'S after he began running for President. Did you know he won the Gandhi Peace Award? I didn't think so - http://www.pepeace.org/tmpl/gandhi.html . He also has a history of beating out Republican incumbents in highly Republican areas. This man is the man to beat out the Republican incumbent we have in the White House now.
"

WE ARE THE MEDIA.

And thank you for the post-- a lot of great info about Kucinich that I wasn't aware of-- but then, that's not surprising. The MSM would rather go bankrupt than say anything positive about the Dems, you know. :(

Yeh-- it's a real drag that the MSM are so biased (that isn't even the word-- corrupt is more like it). They did, are doing, and will continue to do tremendous damage to our country-- I wonder if they realize it?

We have to be the media and I think we're (meaning all the groups and websites and radio stations and books and such) doing a damn fine job.

4. Thank you!
It's funny to think I'm new here with 1000+ emails but I really am - I'm just obsessive. :)

The media is so scary but now that I get it, I have faith others will "get it". :)

3. Hi, Helder.
Glad to see you here.

However, with 1,000+ posts, you can't really be new to the DU?!? It takes a while, even if you post one-liners to show you read the thread.

9. Hmmmm......
1,000+ posts in 12 weeks.....let's see, that's...83.3 posts every week......or ..11.9 posts per day. Yeah, I guess it's plausible. I do TONS of postings, and I have 3,400 posts - - but that took me 2 years.

But some of those took 30 minutes or more to write; I'm a perfectionist, and I had to go look stuff up on the Internet to make sure I wasn't lying, or I had to go find quotes, or pages out of a book and so on. It's hard work postin'.

Sorry to be such a nit-picker, Helder. I believe ya.

I'm glad you're here at the DU!!!

20. Me too. Found it shortly after the election and lurked for a week or so,
then signed up! I am obsessed. Never been so obsessed with anything as election fraud. Found out about e-voting last summer and knew it was gonna be stolen...but didn't know anyone else who knew. Lonely place to be. My friends thought I was just being paranoid, I think. But not any more.

10. Well, I'm very new with only 2 post
I myself voted for the first time this November 2
I was one of the ignorant southerner who watched each day pass me by, waiting for someone else to make a difference in the world. Then 9/11 happened and I was living in Ft. Lauderdale and anthrax was just up the road. Well, the ignorance was over and it was time for this South Carolina boy to pay more attention to the world around him. So, I stayed glued to the news and started to educate myself with FOX news, of all channels. Well, after falling for O’reilly’s bullshit for a few months, I started to notice he was a pampas ass, arrogant and claiming to be righteous and holy. I new something was wrong with this picture. So I started watching all the different news stations and it was a little different, but still something wasn't adding up, it still seemed like bullshit. Eventually I made it to the internet and found some real truth. And today, I can proudly say I'm a liberal Democrat back home in the South Carolina. Yes, they are all standing outside my home wanting to burn me at the stake. I'm definitely going to Hell, so I’ve been told. And as I often tell them, As long as it's a blue flame in hell burning me and not a red flame I don't mind.
I have read the DU for a few months and I want to let everyone know, this is my home. I read all the post each night and thanks to everyone for your insight.

We must unite and defend our liberty

MichaelJH

Welcome to the DU!!!

And that was a very nice 2nd post, indeed. I agree with you. The fat, bloated O'Reilly's can blab all they want. But it doesn't matter if your community is hurting, and people are having tough times. I was incredibly angry for several months, until I found this place. Now I'm much happier, knowing that there really ARE other people who think like me.

Wow, it sounds like you are ONE brave person. We are a blue state here in Oregon, so we've got lots of buddies. THAT's got to be tough. I'm sorry it's so rough.

Just give them some more time. Wait till they see what Bush is really going to do to them. Then you'll hear a different tune.

Hang in there!!:smoke:

18. Michael
Congratulations and welcome!! I love reading stories like yours -- it's so inspiring to know that there are people around the country who are still waking up, and when they DO wake up, they come "home" to the Left (and DU).

Bless you.

21. Welcome, Michael, and kudos to you for being able to see through the
mass deception of MSM. I gave up on it about fifteen years ago after watching a four hour series on PBS by Bill MOyers called, "The Public MInd, Image and REality in AMerica," which by the way is as good today as it was then. I watched it again last year, wondering if it would be dated since it talks about the Reagan years and also about how Vietnam was sold to the public with a pack of lies. It was just as good and even more chilling to see how prophetic Moyers was. Everything he talked about they are still doing, only much more so.

16. Welcome to DU! I am pretty new here too.
Like others, I think the election is what really got me looking for "alternative" news online.
Without DU I would be lost!
We live in a sea of ennui, DU helps me make waves!
