Trickery used to check out voters' signatures: Washington State
Is this not fraud? Gathering information about people for false purposes or under false pretenses? Does anybody care?

"Builders group uses trickery to check out voters' signatures"

"OLYMPIA — A "Home Ownership Survey" sent to hundreds of King County residents, along with a $10 check as an incentive for returning it, wasn't really designed, as it claimed, to help project housing trends in the Puget Sound region.

The three-question survey and the check are part of a plan by backers of former Republican gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi to search for fraudulent votes cast in the disputed November election."

1. Republicans and tricks
I'm not surprised.
Also, the whole thing is preposterous. Dino implicitly claims that the felons voted Democratic. Not likely --- the Democratic candidate was the then attorney general whose office was responsible for convicting some of these felons. You think they're going to make her governor? Not likely.

2. Gawd I hope some finds a copy of one of these
Would be in the "priceless" category.

The "Building Industry Association of Washington" is just a wing of th GOP in this state.

3. follow the money!
This ruse was offering to pay $10.00 for each returned form.

For me, the distinctive element of Dino Rossi's campaign has been the money. His candidacy seemed heavily bankrolled from the start. This makes me wonder what he is supposed to do as Governor that is worth such a huge investment???

4. I'm guessing it would depend on where the money came
from, if it would be considered some sort of fraud to represent a business that didn't exist...and if one of the "recipients" of surveys and checks, sue...
