Whose testimony should be sought for Houston Election Assessment Hearing?
The day prior to the Carter-Baker Commission "hearing" in Houston, election rights workers led by Kip Humprey and others will be holding a hearing in that city to bring to light the evidence and information gathered and analyzed regarding election fraud, targeted disenfranchisement, the need for real election reform, dangers of DRE machines, etc.

Whose testimony do you think would be most important to have heard at such an event?

If you have a personal connection to those you recommend, please indicate (either in your post or via PM) in case your help is needed in contacting them.

I don't have a personal connection except I've e-mailed him a few times and he always answers back. He's given lots of presentations, and the fact that he's a Republican helps, IMHO. He's worked with BBV in the past, too. Also, try Ellen Theisen at Voters Unite. They have a nationwide coalition and are excellent.

13. I don't know, but i think so, although
it would probably get more media attention if we held a "closed door" hearing than a public one!

Kip, will you answer this question? Is it open to the public?

10. How about the woman he replaced, Kaplan?
She might have an interesting story to tell. For example, what if she was set up? This whole fiasco was due to bad ES&S Ballot Definition programming and that sort of thing. It probably happens all the time, deliberately or otherwise. If she's not being indicted or something, I'd like to hear what she has to say. Anybody?

7. I would like to see Rev Jackson or possibly Rev Bill Moss (Columbus OH).
Both are African American and both can give very passionate speechs. I would also suggest Greg Moore from the NAACP, who brought me to tears recently when he spoke at the CASE Teach-In. If interested, pm me or else Bob (F) has contact info.

14. Two groups I reccomend.
US Count Votes and their professors, including Stephen Freeman, to get a full frontal analysis of the entire situation.

Open Voting Consortium who are currently advocating for a new voter registration system, to hear about their overall concerns regarding security and being able to decipher where officials would try to purge.

19. Please post here when things are set up
I don't want to direct people to an event that isn't nailed down firmly. Holding it at that place and time seems to be a good idea, but organizing something big on short notice is hard.

25. Venue is firm, 15 volunteers recruited, Call for Submissions sent out,
First press announcement has been released, Hearing panel is being assembled, and we have some 11 folks who have indicated a desire to testify. The Call for Submission to testify deadline is June 16th. The Call for Submissions without testifying (for a CD release) is June 22nd. We should be announcing the panels between those dates.

Left to do: reserve A/V equipment, line up live music for Wednesday night, order food.

20. Pollworker(s). 1.8 million of us are part of your electoral process.
Edited on Thu Jun-09-05 04:25 AM by demodonkey

I have a suggestion... PLEASE include something about pollworkers, either by having one of us as a member of the Commission, or perhaps better yet by having one of us testify.

There are 1.8 MILLION pollworkers in the USA. I believe that many, no most, of us who hold this job twice each year consider our pollworker duty to be a sacred honor, because people died for our right to vote. At least I do. Those of us who take our responsibility seriously and honestly stand as the perhaps last defense against voters being disenfranchised, cheated, and/or denied a fair chance to vote when they reach the poll. Of course, malfeasance by pollworkers, or taking over of these important positions by people intent on forcing their own agenda, can be as disastrous as any paperless DRE (or will certainly at least enhance the dangers of the paperless DREs!)

I was treated like crap in D.C. at the American University Carter-Baker hearings, where I registered as a "concerned pollworker from Pennsylvania and former AU student". I guess I was considered to be so unimportant, I was never even asked to submit my credentials for security clearance, and thus I ended up on a "Do NOT Admit" list to the actual hearing room at AU! Hmm, that means I am OK/important enough to count over 1100 citizens' precious votes twice each year, but not OK/important enough to even sit in the same room as the all-powerful C-B Commission??

That notwithstanding, pollworkers were "important" enough to have been mentioned no less than 108 times during the actual Carter-Baker testimony on April 18. Many of these references were such that it appeared that pollworkers are a major, major cause of our electoral problems. I believe this to be a dodge tactic, a red herring, just as the emphasis on "voter fraud" etc. was.

It would be good for the 1.8 million pollworkers who are part of our electoral process to have an opportunity to be heard or participate in some way in Houston. Please understand that I am not necessarily requesting that I personally be the pollworker of choice to participate... However if the story of how ironically I was treated during Carter-Baker at AU can in some way further the cause of this hearing, I'll personally do anything I can to help.

21. Compendium ot TruthIsAll statistical analyses, especially head-to-head
with OTOH. This is amazing stuff. The numbers speak for themselves. This needs to be submitted and reviewed. They don't need to talk to anyone. It's all there. Of course, they can if they come here like others have done.

TIA and OnTheOtherHand Head to Head, Productive & Convincing

Or this:

reluctant Bushresponder Destroyed

Or this compendium:

National Exit Poll Compendium

TIA would, of course have the superiod collection of his work but this stuff is "all good", as they say.
