Bush to give back $4,000 in Noe cash (to charity?)
What is with giving this money to charity? Shouldn't the money be going back to the Workers Comp fund or at least held in escrow until everything is audited to see if it is workers comp money?

Note: it's mentioned again about Noe and Rove having frequent contact.

RARE-COIN CASE
Bush to give back $4,000 in Noe cash; Democrats want GOP to return over $100,000

COLUMBUS — President Bush will return $4,000 in campaign contributions donated by Toledo area coin dealer Tom Noe and his wife, officials said yesterday.

A spokesman said the Republican National Committee will also return $2,000 contributed by Mr. Noe, who is facing multiple investigations for allegedly misappropriating at least $10 million in state money and possible federal campaign finance violations. The money will be refunded to charity.

But President Bush will not — at least for now — return more than $100,000 raised by Mr. Noe for his re-election bid last year, said Aaron McLear, a spokesman for the RNC. Democrats continue to call on the President to return all of the “tainted” money raised by Mr. Noe.

On Wednesday, Gov. Bob Taft as well as U.S. Sens. George Voinovich and Mike DeWine, three Republican gubernatorial candidates, and several GOP leaders tried to cleanse their hands of Mr. Noe’s cash by announcing they would direct the money to charities and organizations

1. Dammit, that money belongs to the residents of the State of Ohio
it should go RIGHT back into the Workers Comp Fund where is was supposed to go in the FIRST place.

2. Yep, but if they did
they would be admitting guilt to funneling state funds into campaign coffers.

Somehow I think they'll get caught anyway.

6. I'm hoping they all get caught
At least Montgomery has chosen to put the money in escrow. I think she's the only one.

3. "...charities AND organizations..." little ominous eh?
So the 'organizations' would not necessarily be charities...

This returned money should go into an escrow account until it can be determined whether or not the money was part of the 11 million Noe skimmed off the coin fund.

There is no excuse for giving this money away right now...this is like burning evidence to commit possibly illegal campaign cash to uninvolved 'organizations' (who wants to bet it'd be OHIO GOP fund or some crap).

4. Local NPR reported this am that blackwell is donating his Noe contribution
to an ANTI CHOICE (my term) charity instead of back to the BWC.

8. I still don't understand
how they can legally donate questionable money as if it's their own and not the State of Ohio's. It just baffles me.

9. Does "refunded to charity" make it unstolen?
That's just, well, rude.
If the money was "misappropriated" and donated to political campaigns, the only way to "cleanse their hands" is to put it back where it belongs. How hard can that be?

Certainly an escrow account is fine until all the details are sorted.

10. 10 to 15 million dollars "missing" -- thousands donated to various
Republicans and Republican Organizations.... (I heard that Arnold Sschwarzenegger got 10K) and the money donate is being given back for charities (and "organizations")?

ESCROW. INVESTIGATE. His donations had to come from somewhere -- and when he was in the midst of a divorce and told the judge he couldn't pay his ex-wife's lease on her car, he was still donating (I think this might have been before he was investing. But, even so.)

11. They can try and give it back. But it's kind of like the "Tar Baby" story.
They're not going to be able to shake loose from their involvement. The harder they try to pull away, the more entangled they'll become.

Oh, this is DEFINITELY 'get out the popcorn' time...if ever there was. And the wide-spread Repug receipt of fraudulentElection funds could reverse the Nov. elections around (including House and Senate seats) yet!!

And ya just know Blackwell is involved in this too!
