Goodbye and thanks to DU.
Edited on Mon Jun-06-05 04:28 AM by Febble
Some people here want me to go away.

Some people want me to address their objections to my posts.

Some people seem to enjoy debating with me.

It's been a roller coaster for me, DU. I came because someone linked to my paper, and I wanted to join the debate. I left it several times, and came back, for better or worse. But it is time I left for good. I think your country needs this forum, and God knows, I think your country needs electoral reform.

I've learned a lot from the debate - some of what I've learned has made me sad - some has been really useful. And I've made a few friends.

So here are my thanks:

Thanks for having me. Thanks to Melissa G and Carolab for listening to me, and responding to my PMs.

Thanks to TIA and Tommcintyre for at least giving me credit for good intentions, even if they are convinced that I am in denial, and subject to cognitive dissonance.

Thanks to Autorank for Conyers's smile, brief though it was.

Thanks to Time for Change for challenging the statistics head on, for posting Bruce O'Dell's message, even though he disagreed with it, and even though he was criticised for it.

Thanks to all of those who PMd me with support.

Thanks to all those who PMd me to try to persuade me of my folly.

And thanks to the posters who I won't thank by name, in case it tars their reputation with mine, who supported me in the online debates. It was really appreciated.

If anyone has any questions, comments, or things they want me to address, please PM me. I will try to respond. But I won't respond on threads - I'll leave those to you to kick if you want.

And good luck. I would never have got involved in this debate if I didn't truly believe that you deserve a better electoral system - and a better president - than you have.

Lizzie

1. Thanks for your time, Lizzie.
What I don't quite understand still is why you decided to do work for Mystery Pollster and Mitofsky. Apparently you were paid real money and went on to do several different projects.

I'm sure if you had cleared that up right from the start, and not advocated special interests there wouldn't have been any contention.

But as questionable as your affiliations are, good luck in your work. I wouldn't advocate to have anything to do with MP though. Those men are very deceitful, and have for years used certain impressionable people to fulfill an agenda.

Farewell febble. ;)

3. Brief clarification:
I worked with Mark Blumenthal, amongst others, not for. I am now doing a single project for Mitofsky, which post-dated the work that has been discussed here, including my DKos posts and my paper. The people who collaborated with me on the paper are acknowledged in the text, and the work was unpaid.

Farewell to you too, LF ;)

2. I'll say my goodbye here also
Edited on Mon Jun-06-05 05:50 AM by staticstopper
Since no one knows me anyway-

But I too have given up hope for any sort of clean-up or reform.

One poster here that I learned a lot from and had thought there was an understanding with, has gone back into debating an issue that I thought we all had agreed was of no use, that only weaken our argument.

The USA is at best a plutocratic military dictatorship. And in my opinion, anyone who believes otherwise is fooling themself.

Kerry's speech today will disappoint.
