8. The address in Houston and other info...
Here's Kip Humphrey's post on the EAH in Houston. bejammin075 at that thread asks for help getting a copy of the 1st hearing video (I'm not quite sure which one he means).

Election Assessment Hearing: An OPEN INVITATION to DUers

Dear DUers,

As you know, the Baker-Carter Commission on Federal Election Reform is having its second PRIVATE hearing at the James Baker Institute for Public Policy at Rice University in Houston, Texas, on Thursday, June 30th. Unfortunately, that commission stands firm on a closed agenda and has refused requests to testify by Rep. John Conyers, David Cobb, and a score of others knowledgeable experts in the matters of election disenfranchisement, voter suppression, digital voting systems, and election reform. To date, the B-C Commission has preferred to focus primarily on such topics as a national ID card, deceased voters still on voter registration rolls, electronic voting for disabled voters, and centralized voter registration. This past week, Mr Paster called a last minute meeting with a very short list of hand-picked election reform activist organizations to allow them to present, not before the Commission, but in a Common Cause back room. It is the view of some that Paster is trying to: a) defuse the Election Assessment Hearing; and/or B) attempting to split the movement between reform activists and fraud investigators.

This last week it came to my attention that: a) John Conyers would testify at the B-C hearing on June 30; and, conversely, b) Conyers' staff says they are reluctant to accept our invitation to Rep. Conyers to testify before the EAH because they do not want to lend any credence to the B-C commission, even in juxtaposition, because the B-C commission has jerked Conyers around badly and they (Conyers' staff) consider the B-C commission to be a complete fraud.

This last week, the day before the Paster/Common Cause meeting in D.C., the EAH received a probing inquiry from the B-C commission asking how they might receive input from us. Oddly, their response to our positive response has been... silence.

QUESTIONS:

Is the EAH now irrelevant? Is it time to have the movement split apart into two factions? Shall we rely on the good intentions of the B-C commission?

MY RESPONSE: HELL NO!

The EAH is stirring worry sufficiently to cause contravening action by the B-C commission. What are they worried about?

We will reveal the truth about digital voting
We will document clear electoral abuses directed against the American people that denied the will of the people being expressed
We will speak of F-R-A-U-D
We will speak of REAL reform

No wonder the B-C commission is worried.

Evey able bodied DUer is invited to attend the Election Assessment Hearing in Houston on June 29th; to participate in delivering our information to the B-C commission on the 30th (after all, they SAY they want it!); to join me in responding: HELL NO!

Best regards,

Kip Humphrey

2. Is someone from California going to Houston for this June 29 event?
Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 07:05 PM by Peace Patriot
(--the alternative to the phony, private Baker/Carter "commission" "hearing" June 30)?

Could you take a petition for everyone there to sign-or organize a group letter among speakers and other participants, which can be emailed to the CA Sec of State, and maybe cc'ed to CA legislators and to media, providing public comment on the new election theft machines that Diebold and ES&S are foisting upon us?

The public comment deadline has been extended to June 30, so it would have to be emailed by 5 pm the next day (after the real Houston hearing, and on the same day as the phony hearing). Email is permitted.

We need help in beating back Diebold and ES&S in California! Lots of help! A national spotlight!

3. Do you know if they have to read everything submitted?
I think it could be possible to submit the whole CD from the EAH, which will include even more testimony than that presented at our hearing, to them by 6/30. Would they be required to actually read it? Could be pretty huge.

5. Of course they don't have to--and probably don't! They'll likely just
review the comments from those whom they think have the wherewithal to sue them. Bad, bad, bad panel, run by bad, bad, bad people!

But EAH might qualify in that category--fear of lawsuit (or fear of national spotlight).

But their indifference is no reason not to bombard them with letters from all sides, which may send smoke signals around Sacramento that something is up--maybe the Dems will get off their behinds--and, if Bruce McDannold is telling activists that their email is "full", perhaps we can get a number from him on letter volume, for publicity purposes, notify media, use it with Dems.

This doesn't mean that there isn't one good person somewhere in the Sec of State junta who might pay attention to public comment. There might be. Just don't expect the junta to care. But, being as it's California, with a 2 to 1 Dem majority in the legislature--and similar statewide--they will have to mind their P's and Q's and maybe even do something illegal to shove more of these election theft machines down our throats.

In general, I don't know what their legal requirements are, as to public comment. I'm just guessing and surmising from what I've picked up so far about how this Panel operates. It's in an advisory role to the Sec of State. It doesn't make the actual decisions. Under Shelley, the public process was treated seriously. I don't think that is the case now. But I'll have to find out specifics.

4. I've just been informed that the CA Sec of State spokesman claims that
their email box is "full." That's probably B.S. (GREAT NEWS, though!). Anyway, a reputable activist is saying, FAX don't email. See above for the FAX number.

They may turn the Fax off at night, or at arbitrary times. If that occurs, send email anyway--there is no such thing as "full." It will eventually be delivered. And keep a record of the sending.

God, these people!

6. I would also suggest, use snail mail if you have the time, and use Fed Ex
for late sending, through 6/29 (the night of the 29th is probably the latest you could send it, using next day delivery).

And, if email bounces back (or whatever they're doing), or they turn off the Fax machine, keep trying. Use both methods. Fed Ex is surest, if time is factor.

11. Question?
Edited on Wed Jun-22-05 12:00 AM by autorank
"* Bruce O'Dell or Kathy Dopp, US Count Votes" -- that's two different views--exit polls point to little or nothing or Dopp, they're powerful indicators of fraud. Freeman's not coming?

On edit: Is the CalTech speaker part of the team that said the statistics of Freeman, TIA, Dopp are bogus. What's his position?

Thanks
