We could refuse to vote on them. We should start a huge campaign and boycott of these machines. This should force the Dems to fight hard for change. It may sound like we are cutting off our noses to spite our faces but it would be a plan to push the issue hard to the dems that we know we are getting screwed by these machines and they MUST do something about it. We have vowed for three elections now: NEVER AGAIN! but nothing has changed and at this rate nothing will. What will we do come election time when we know the outcome already?

2. No threat necessary
If they don't fix the voting machines, they'll magically disappear from office all by themselves...

4. What about a resolution introduced, forcing pukes' to vote against it?
It would be very difficult explaining to your constituents why you are opposed to a voting paper trail.

5. Vote absentee!
Fortunately, in my state, they are working hard for voter-verified paper trail (www.truevotect.org). If that happens, I'm voting. If it's all electronic, fuhgedaboutit!

I encourage those forced to use opaque unauditable voting technologies owned and operated by political partisans to vote absentee and to write LTTEs long before the election explaining "Why I am voting absentee."

For Dean and other top Dems, VVPBs must be issue #1, #2 and #3. Otherwise, we're begging the fascists for scraps: "Please don't eliminate the filibuster!" "Please don't appoint fanatics to the Supreme Court." Etc.

6. Dem election officials are also corrupt.
See this thread about the lavish vendor/election official conference in Bev Hills in August:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x379666

There is deep doodoo corruption of Dem election officials by the electronic voting machine companies. In Calif, it stinks to high heaven. Repubs of course are corrupt. But the Dems are the chief obstacle to reform (because, who else do we have?). I suspect this is true all over the country and also involves legislators and others.

We have to begin exposing this corruption in our own party, and expelling these people from office. I think it may even be worth starting a new political party devoted solely to paper ballots/hand counts. The Paper Ballot Party. Up or down vote on that issue alone--for electon officials and maybe for all candidates.

We do have easy Absentee Ballot voting in Calif. But some states make it very restrictive. It is not THE answer, but it is a temporary measure we can take wherever any kind of electonics are involved. But I do think they scan the Absentee Ballots into the electronic database, and from there, it's no longer trackable (secret, proprietary software owned and controlled by major rightwingers and Bush "Pioneers").

We should do Absentee Ballots as a form of protest. At least it's a concrete, re-countable object. This is one way to get a huge movement going. Most people distrust electronic voting and would be receptive to a campaign to use AB voting.

12. Mail the DNC, talk to Howard Dean yourselves:
democraticparty@democrats.org & guestbook@dnc.org

You can mail them directly and demand more attention. Just like the corporate media, one has to bring open the seriousness of the issue for it to gain traction and then national recognition.
