Voters to get a chance to try touch-screen device

BOWLING GREEN - Voters who would like to find out what it's like to vote electronically can try out a touch-screen voting machine at the Wood County Board of Elections.

The elections board has a touch-screen unit set up at its office where residents can see exactly how they will vote when the units permanently replace the old punch-card voting machines.

The machines could be used for the first time in November.

If you live there, try to go check them out. Ask the Hard Questions. Verified Paper Ballot? Who tabulates? When do votes get recounted (many (all?) districts have to have an automatic recount if the win is less than a determined percentage (does this change per district?) -- in any case -- How would they handle a recount if this happened? Would they count the paper ballots (if they exist), too?

1. Ask:
Do I have the option to cast a paper ballot?
