1. the Stalin-style elections are pretty transparent
It's getting courtroom-admissible evidence, not just stuff beyond any human's doubt, that's the PITA.

6. I think there exists 'courtroom-admissable evidence' -
And plenty lots of it here - from Duers and many bloggers on the net. If the right person decided to actually collect it all it would be overwhleming to see it all in one place.

2. I love the issue of voting rights
Nothing would make me happier than to see it become an important issue in upcoming elections, but I don't think it can be until someone gets caught red-handed.

Voting Rights Act, at 40, faces reauthorization amid topsy-turvy politics

snip...

Many in the civil-rights community think white Democrats blithely blame minority districts for their own failures.

But Edward Blum, a fellow with the Washington-based Center for Equal Opportunity, and a longtime crusader against race-conscious public policy, said Democrats and their allies fool themselves if they underestimate how much racial districting has cost them, and what a blunder it would be for them to override Georgia v. Ashcroft.

"They would truly be digging their own grave for control of legislative bodies really for the next generation," Blum said. "It is highly unlikely Democrats would be able to regain control of the U.S. House or any of the legislative bodies in any of the covered Deep South."

No group has more at stake than black members of Congress. All of them are Democrats. Many have considerable seniority and would wield great power if the Democrats regained control of the House.

"Section 5 ought to be allowed to gracefully expire in 2007," said Vanderbilt University political scientist Carol Swain, whose book "Black Faces, Black Interests" was cited in Georgia v. Ashcroft as evidence that simply electing more minority representatives may not maximize the influence of minority voters.

But, Swain said, "Apparently black members of Congress have grown comfortable with being in the minority. Otherwise, why would they endorse a strategy that works against the long-term interests of their party?"

3. Puh...

Millions of Americans are able to vote and be DENIED the American dream because of voting system fraud, manipulation, and conflict of interest, and because the votes aren't counted, or aren't counted accurately.

Therefore they end up with representatives in government who got there by rigging, obfuscating, cheating, manipulating, and various other fraudulent means, who do NOT represent them, or even the majority.

To quote ROBERT NOVAK:

THAT'S JUST BULLSHIT!

However, I suggest in this case that we DO NOT "just let it go".

4. I guess there are a lot of us, buzzing quietly in the background
including a few politicians and they figure we aren't going away. We'll keep hounding our state & local election peeps and our congresspeople as long as it takes.

The Voting Rights Act anniversary helps bring it to the surface.

:)

7. BTW - Here's how their PR machine is at work on 9/11:
I've been seeing ads for this show. At first I didn't know about Fox (it's disclosed in the last paragraph of the article) - So I logged on and starting reading what I thought would describe a whitewash. Then, it got interesting (see below). And then, I saw the Fox participation. So I'm thinking whatever they expose will be stated in such a way that it can be explained or shown to have changed now (like, we really learned our lesson on this one folks...)

I think they must know how close we're getting.
This needs our watching and response when it's over.

"National Geographic Channel Goes 'Inside 9/11' to Reveal a Clearer Picture of the Day That Redefined Our Nation

Sunday, August 21, 2005, at 9P
Inside 9/11
War on America

Also airs:
Monday, August 22, 12A
Monday, August 22, 7:00P

snip...
"Inside 9/11" also tackles the difficult questions about our intelligence efforts and their failure to protect us despite early warning signs that pointed to al Qaeda terrorists living in Tucson, Detroit, Chicago, Kansas City, Atlanta and Brooklyn as early as 1988. Expert analysis comes from inside the intelligence community, including Michael Scheuer, former CIA senior intelligence analyst and bin Laden expert, who says in the mini-series, "America has never had an enemy who has been more precise in warning us what we're in for."

The show also includes testimony pinpointing missed opportunities, such as that of former senator and chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee Bob Graham, who laments that "early on there was an FBI agent who had suspicions about flight centers in Arizona ... none of those recommendations was followed ... the fact is that the FBI, from 1998 onward, had several of its own people saying that there was a very real, very specific threat involving Middle Eastern men in U.S. flight schools."

Investigative journalist and terrorism expert Steve Emerson adds, "9/11 occurred with 19 guys living here under their own names, registering their own driver's licenses, and yet able to outmaneuver a 30 billion dollar law enforcement intelligence agency network."

Why did the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) suppress information on security lapses identified by its own investigators and not take action after receiving 52 warnings that specifically mentioned attacks intended by bin Laden? "Inside 9/11" includes the first-person recollections of an FAA whistleblower, whose testimony to the 9/11 Commission was omitted from the final report. He testified that, "although we breached security with ridiculous ease up to 90 percent of the time, the FAA suppressed these warnings. Instead we were ordered not to write up our findings (in some cases) and not to retest airports where we found particularly egregious vulnerabilities to see if the problems had been fixed."

"Inside 9/11" asks the important questions: How did this happen? How can we make sure it never happens again? The mini-series looks at the work of the men and women who must answer these questions and figure out what's next in a much-changed world. This is the story of individual lives touched by tragedy, and of a nation that was forced to move in a few hours from delusions of invulnerability to belated vigilance.

"Inside 9/11" is produced for the National Geographic Channel by Towers Productions, Inc. Jonathan Towers is the executive producer for Towers Productions. Alex Flaster, Lance Hori, Rachel Milton and Bernie Dudek are producers. Nicole Rittenmeyer is supervising producer. For National Geographic Channel, supervising producer is Collette Beaudry; executive producer is Michael Cascio; executive in charge of production is John Ford.

Visit http://www.inside911.com, launching August 9, for more information.

Based at National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington, D.C., the National Geographic Channel is a joint venture between National Geographic Television and Film (NGT and F) and Fox Cable Networks.]
