Quilt on EBAY to benefit Sherole Eaton
Quilt to help our Whistleblower
All proceeds to benefit Sherole Eaton Ohio's heroine!

Description

The quilt for sale is a hand sewn, full size quilt measure at 5' 10'' X 8'. The quilt was originally a prize Laverne had won at an event at the local Senior Citizen's Center but decided the best way to help her friend, Sherole is to put this item up for auction.

Laverne Wolfely was born July 13, 1916 in South Bloomingville, Ohio, coincidentally enough on her father's birthday. The youngest of 11 children, 9 sisters and 1 brother who has since passed away, remembers her childhood vividly growing up during the Great Depression. She recalls, with a tear in her eye, Thursday, April 12, 1945 sitting with family members and hearing the announcement that the President of the United States, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, had died earlier that day. She is a wife of a WWII veteran, a mother, a grandmother and a loyal democrat.

It broke my heart because she (Sherole) didn't deserve it.

-Laverne Wolfely

Info on Sherole Eaton: Sherole Eaton worked at the Hocking County, Ohio Board of Elections. She "blew the whistle" on Triad Corporation (one of the GOP-controlled e-voting companies) after a Triad technician accessed the BOE's computers just before the recount, but after recieving the information about which precincts were to be recounted. He also showed the BOE staff how to create a cheat sheet and hang it on the wall to help them ensure that the recount results would match the original vote tallies. For her efforts, Sherole was fired from the Board of Elections.

1. I wish I could afford it but I'll help keep this kicked.
It's a beautiful quilt for a genuinely honest person.

2. kicking
I think the brave people in position to whistleblow are the last chance for our country to remain a democratic republic. Kicking and nominating.

4. Crapola! I just looked at the auction again and noticed
the seller has no feedback. This may hurt the sale a lot.

5. The seller is a Democrat volunteer not an Ebay trader
Is there any way within Ebay to provide credentials to overcome the feedback obstacle? We never thought of this being a problem.

6. I don't know. I'll bet if this was on the "greatest" an ebay seller would
be able to provide input. Also, people here may bid knowing that it's a good cause even though there is no feedback.

8. Are we now buying quilts to help the Dem's?
This makes no sense to me. Ebay has there own scheme and this forum has it's own theme. Let me make this clear. Paul Hackett kicked ass and it is up to you Dem's to make a difference. Get involved in a local level. I don't mean buying quilts.

11. More on Laverne...
I rarely write on this blog...unless I feel compelled to. Timewellspent, what is your problem? Is it with the County Dems or just Sherole personally? The quilt is to help a whistle blower, who happens to be a democrat.

So say what you will...the e-bay item has the info surrounding Sherole's situation and includes info on Laverne because she wanted to sell this quilt to help Sherole. I absolutely adore Laverne and will tell her story because she is a wonderful woman and I strive to be more like her.

Laverne was in attendance at 5 hour BOE meeting on May 19th. After the BOE voted to fire Sherole, every Dem stood up in unison and left the meeting in protest. We followed Sherole out of the room and circled around her to discuss what our next step was. it was then we discussed a trump card we believed we had that one of the two democrats had been placed illegally on the board and since that person had seconded the motion to fire Sherole, then the motion would be null and void.

Laverne followed behind and eventually made her way to the center of the crowd. she patted Sherole's forearm and asked Sherole what had happened. Sherole explained that the board had fired her. Laverne took off her glasses to wipe her eyes and whispered why, why would they do this to you? Sherole hugged Laverne and individuals within the circle began explaining to her that we may be able to remove the Dem Board member. The democrats present that day felt utterly betrayed and couldn't fathom why our BOE members would vote against Sherole.

Now, Laverne did not say, "Let's get her" or anything remotely close to that. She placed her glasses back up and asked if she (Dem Board member) would be able to keep her medical insurance.
Out of all things that could have been said or done, Laverne's first thought was to make sure this Democrat could keep her health care. Her first concern was the well being of a person who did not give the same concern when it came to Sherole's health.
I don't know about everyone else but at that moment I had to step back and take all of this in. For a while now, I have been asking myself what kind of democrat I want to be. So I need to thank Laverne for that one moment because she makes me want to be a better democrat. Laverne is the democrat I want and strive to be.

Sherole btw, was featured again in the Logan Daily News

Eaton questions board procedure
Commissioners discuss records

Craig Dunn
of The Logan Daily News

LOGAN — Sherole Eaton, former deputy director of the Hocking County Board of Elections, asked county commissioners Thursday morning about the county's procedure for shredding documents and the disposal of old records.

"The value of having these laws is to protect the records... I would just like to know what the process is in the county at this time," Eaton asked, noting organizations such as the Ohio Historical Society and Ohio Genealogy Society would be interested in old records once it was determined the county no longer had use for them,

Eaton said she knew documents pertaining to name and address changes need to be saved for at least four years.
