PARTICIPATING ORGANIZATIONS

Groups working for electoral integrity are invited to help publicize this event and mobilize our audience.
We intend to inform, motivate, and organize toward a unified strategy to restore democracy.

* Participating Organizations will be credited in publicity announcements, and invited to host literature and outreach tables in the theater lobby during the afternoon film fest and evening events.
* Those with projects to educate and engage citizens in electoral activism will be invited to make five-minute audience presentations, as time allows, then enlist citizen volunteers during the networking session following the speakers. We intend this event to continue long after we leave the theater, until the day everyone's vote is counted as cast.
* Organizations wishing to participate in this event, please respond with the name of your group, the name, phone, and e-mail of a contact person, a description of your group's involvement in voting rights and elections issues, and if you wish, a proposal for a five-minute presentation. Please send your responses to ca.voteraction@sbcglobal.net or to (510) 740-0572 (voicemail).

This event is a benefit for the Voting Rights Task Force of the Wellstone Democratic Renewal Club, the people who brought you the January 6 Boxer Rebellion, the Election Rigging 101 National Teach-in, and the continuing battle to eradicate Diebold from Alameda County, and all blackbox voting fraud from California and the nation.

The VRTF expresses its great appreciation to our speakers, the filmmakers, and Allen Michaan and the Grand Lake Theater for donating their time, creative work, and resources to this cause of securing our votes and reclaiming our democracy.

2. Referring to Bev?
Edited on Sat Aug-27-05 07:06 AM by O.M.B.inOhio
Don't trust her, resent her, hate her, whatever. But why is a presentation on the mechanincs of election fraud a scam? Corporate schemers must distrust each other and dislike each other, but they manage to collaborate to push forth their agenda of greed and corruption. Why can't we keep our eyes on the prize of equity, fairness, honesty in elections?\

4. Perhaps you should ask HER that?
Just a few of her threats to the ACCURATE scientists:

Consider this post a planned maneuver. The aggression will STOP. Or it will continue. The instigators will either stop the bullshit whispering right now, or BBV will engage for real.

I'm open for a conference call, any time, anywhere. Rules of engagement: The negativity stops now. A platform for rehabilitation of the damage to BBV will be constructed.

Failing that, we've got a hard-hitting expose in the works, and for the very first time, we will fight back in public and with the help of the mainstream press.

What's it going to be, fellas?

Nope, won't do it. If you get in bed with skunks, you always stink.

Bev is becoming more desparate for money. We will NOT win our goal by helping her fleece people.

9. I must've been unclear.
I wouldn't suggest behaving like the GOP (Greed, Oil, Power?), but I hope we don't waste out energy flogging ourselves. Perhaps this Bev is dishonest, but IF she's demonstrating the mechanics of election fraud in a valuable way and IF she isn't getting an inordinate sum for the appearance, then I don't know that appearing there is fleecing anybody. IF she doesn't go and collect donations which ultimately don't go toward exposing fraud, then she's doing something good. I'd feel more confident about her if I'd seen, say, the video of Volusa County, FL; but I only meant to suggest that a knee-jerk attack may be unfair.
(Gee, I guess that instead of writing this, I could've written my Congressman!)

10. Anything she does, even for our benefit
is done to find more suckers to fleece. We will NOT make friends by failing to warn people about her.

People who get involved with Bev run the risk of being attacked by freepers and having their reputations assaulted.

How could I in good conscience allow other activists to be exposed to this danger without warning them?

20. Ask Andy
Please why don't you ask how Bev treated Andy Stephenson.

Once people get involved with Bev, the next step could be to be HARRISSED publicly, and also by Freepers, where Bev posts messages that inflame the Freepers to attack people the Bev no longer has use for.

21. Oh, you can't ask Andy, he is dead
Yes, you can't ask Andy Stephenson, because he died from the illness that Bev Harris stated she didn't believe he had.

Too bad that donations to Andy at PayPal were held up by freepers inflamed by the "I don't believe it's terminal" campaign.

Gee, if he hadn't had his operation delayed by 2 weeks, he might not have gotten sepsis and died.

5. Don't forget the summary EIRS data for most states that shows widespread
touch screen switching in about 20 states, illegal dirty tricks in most swing and large states, suppression of minority and student voters in most states, manipulation of registration, absentees, provisional ballots, other types of fraud, intimidation, etc.

8. I guess BBV.org knows all of the ACCURATE crews' IP addresses huh?
"...the Black Box Voting Web site's IP logs show frequent, almost daily silent visits from the same scientists who were chosen for the new NSF project. They quietly visit BBV to pick up documents and review our latest findings, but never admit this publicly."

This from a woman who didn't even know that 192.168.0.0 ain't allowed on the Internet.

22. and about her cursed documents
The documents at BBV.org are useless to many of us activists, because they each have blackboxvoting stamped diagonally across each page in red.

I can't send these to election officials! Useless.

Maybe if you pay a fee, you can get the documents without the red ink splashed across the page.

11. Here's my take on all of this, and I think it bears scrutiny.
Bev Harris has received much criticizm all across the election reform movement, however the point of this entire debate is not a personality conflict but rather a democracy conflict.

And while she has uniformly practiced the same breed of lobbying disguised as fundraising that her organization frequently undermines, its missing the larger point of contention.

The one point she has constantly adressed that bears watching is the point of conflict of interest that so many organizations frequently adopt.

I don't agree with the policies presented from her personality, but I do agree with the point of how the election systems are getting exploited and where the conflicts of interest are.

For some inane reason, vendors are allowed to curtail or coerce scientists, activists, and organizations with party favors in order to undermine the democratic process.

The whole point is this is no more about splitting hairs than working in a farmer's harvest during a dry season. The voting process has one function and only one, to establish a democracy that is goverened by the people. The voting system is broken and paralyzed, and without bringing it back to life and educating the public it won't change.

This involves the need to have one unified message, and not play into any of the tactics of the opposition. One of those things that needs to be blasted daily in the message is conflict of interest.

I got no problem if the National Science Foundation wants to fund research into electronic voting. But like I say, if they are going to let David Dill and these others be "qualified" and fund them, why not fund me or someone down the street too?

Its where the blurring of the line begins that, I can detect problems. If you are the board of directors for someone's voting company, or an outside group and also researching the problems of that voting company, that group or any of the alleged marketers there is a conflict of interest isn't there?

And what I'm most afraid of is allowing conflict of interest abuses into the voting reform process, which is why I definitely stand behind citizen oversight. The vote is what we all worked to achieve and keep the country free, and it is vital we all stand behind it and reform that process.

In Ohio we have over 3 initiatives set for legislation now all co-citizen sponsored, and lawsuits going into court. I really don't see how scientists are going to help those. Do I like the idea of added feedback? Correct, it is neccesary. But I believe that scientists must allow citizen involvement and be strictly scrutinized by citizens along the whole way. If they aren't willing to listen, we aren't going to reform the vote. I think that is the whole point and we have to hold everyone's toes to the same fire, that we want the machines out of the process, either entirely or mandated by independant audits.

Anything else we are cutting America short, as far as I can see because this is about the most serious sacred civil right. So I really think those like Bev, or Jim March should be hired by the scientists or staff to go after the vendors aka voting company people who are making all these conflicts of interest. I see these sort of people as the pitbulls who, while intentional or not come off as too paranoid for the academia.

So I see this sort of action would resolve two problems: One, the conflict of interest between various voting integrity groups. Two, the conflict of interest between all the voting vendors who sparked this mess.

Further I've seen alot of evidence lately of dissenting views getting out of control. IMO, inclusiveness is the best policy. I would advocate for instance, Kathy Dopp and the team of USCount Votes should bring direct oversight to these research groups. Or work alongside them in the process of producing audits, because while strong headed at times these diverse opinions are vital to restoring voting. Kathy and her researchers are also PHD's.

On the opposite side I would prefer Bev, Lynn Landes and their friends to be on the team exposing the voting companies front to back because they are so good at it and are the pitbulls for digging up the truth about them. And then I see the rest of us citizens, as being the team leaders of this movement. Be critical of eachother's findings but never cut off the virtue of dissent, because without it we would not be able to restore honesty to the vote.

I've said my piece, here's to the thieves of Ohio being put away and 10 new honest elections for this state's future!

Remember this little snippet from last week:

15. Maybe so....
But, we're all forgetting the one underlying concern here: Conflict of interest.

Is it ethical not to mention legal say, for Diebold or ES&S to be working on the County board of elections for Hocking County Ohio while they are still employed at Diebold and ES&S?

Is it ethical or legal for them to be paying off the board of elections supervisor, or Matt Damschroder when they still work for Diebold and ES&S?

Is it ethical or legal for the chief strategist Walden O'Dell to be making regular trips to the County BOE offices where Triad technicians come to "adjust" the machines and handle elections?

Likewise, would it be ethical or legal for Avi Rubin a renowned scientist to be selling his new voting system VoteHereNow and also work on the board of election staff as a supervisor?

No, and this is where it runs into trouble. Not only is it not legal, it sets up the stage for election fraud. So I see an open system governed by the people, where vendors are a seperate issue, and must consult with the Board and the people directly and also have open code to inspect their counting methods. That way, this is no longer about one big corporation.

This is more or less about an open, fair democracy and a verified vote.

17. she deserves criticism
she accused the original researchers for BBV's book of being in it for the money. then she was secretly filing a qui tam suit.

she has trashed everyone that ever helped her.

she has no work to show, only that of others, so that she can
bask in the limelight.

she is all hype, or "all hat, no cattle".

All she does is trash everyone that doesn't kiss her butt.
And she eventually trashes them.

yes, yes try to cast innuendo at the computer scientists who want to help us, Bev, but how about posting your NON PROFIT's tax return for 2004?

Or do you have something to hide?

We have learned from groups like The Election Center that it can be
embarrassing to the organization to have it's finances made public.
