Texas Counties Select AccuPoll Voting System; Hartley and Sherman Counties to Benefit from Latest in Voting System Technology and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail

1. hmm does this NOT prevent computer vote fraud? ->

getting a print out to the voter showing whether his/her vote LOOKS the same on paper as on computer screen does NOT prevent the computer system from completely fabricating the vote data. No way to tell then if the computers have cheated the electorate.

2. Are there any recommendations for a good DRE?

My county will be demonstrating some of these machines (ESS is listed as one of them) next week. I'd like to be able to make recommendations to the county election official as to what he should be looking for. Are all of these companies owned by Republican backers?

3. its not the systems its the crooked implementation.

any system with an audited paper backup could work fine.

random small percentage counts to verify accuracy between paper and tabulation machines.
automatic full audit if any discrepancy.
any recounts go to the paper. with the possibility of hand counts if called for.
the paper being the legal vote.
challengers should always be allowed to call for a full retabulation or hand count as long as they cover the expense.

it is easy if you WANT it to be honest.

This voting machine is not HAVA compliant and cant be used in a the Federal election coming in 2006.
