We need: sound bytes, bullet items, hard facts |
|
it occurs to me that when making the argument about election fraud, it often gets complicated. to make an impression on newbies, we need to have some very simple facts that can be stated in a bulleted list, which unfortunately is what people are used to nowadays.
I came up with a couple.
"A handful of programmers at Diebold headquarters could rig the election results and no one would ever know because there are no checks and balances in the system."
"Because voting machine software is 'proprietary,' no one is allowed to view the source code, which means our votes are being counted in secret."
if we had a 6-10 compelling items for a bulleted list, we could distribute it widely and try to get some more people interested and active in the subject.
got any more quick, simple, factual, eyebrow-raising items for the bulleted list?

-WIth a lever machine the vote counting mechanism can be examined, with computerized voting no-one can look at the vote counting mechanism except a corporate agent.
- A DRE issues a printed tally and a smart card tally. Vendors laud the redundancy, like having 2 sets of books. But if you had an accountant caught with 2 sets of books, you would call the police.
-Papers filed with the SEC on November 3rd, 2004 indicate that Wally Odell of Diebold recieved about 34 million in stock options. Heck of a job WAlly.

3. Sound bites have a place but documentation is also needed |

Kerry won Ohio & the national total in 2004 http://www.flcv.com/ohiosum.htmlMost states had touch screen switching, systematic dirty tricks, and other systematic manipulation of the election in 2004 http://www.flcv.com/summary.htmlhttp://www.flcv.com/ussumall.htmlFlorida had the most touch screen switching and largest swing in 2004 election http://www.flcv.com/fla04EAS.htmlhttp://www.flcv.com/fraudpat.html

4. I think this is a great Idea, ( kick- n- recommended ). |
|
Lets get some dumbed down points that everyone can understand.
Have you ever asked how your votes get counted?
Did you know they won't show you how your vote got counted?
You should be asking WHY? They won't show you how your vote got counted. Type stuff, just a thought.

7. When electronic voting machines are used local poll workers do |
|
not count the votes, the voting machine companies do.
And if their eyes haven't turned glassy yet, you can add that some of the programmers at one of the biggest voting machine companies are convicted felons.

8. The recent GAO report on electronic voting says: |
|
"Numerous recent studies and reports have highlighted problems with the security and reliability of electronic voting systems. While these reports often focused on problems with specific systems or jurisdictions, the concerns they raise have the potential to affect election outcomes." http://www.gao.gov/docsearch/abstract.php?rptno=GAO-05-956

10. "The secret ballot" wasn't meant to be secret from the voter |
|
and
A paper printout from an electronic machine tells you who you voted for, which could be the *opposite* of how your vote was counted by the computer. Even a recount does not reveal "flipped" votes.
