County delays voting machine purchase
Keep Pushing there are some officials paying attention. They will use their old optical scanners in 2006, Now if we could get them to UNPLUG them scanners from the central tabulators and post the totals at the precinct level, before they send them to the central tabulator. We could do some testing. I'm just saying.

Snip.....“We had the same concerns that a lot of the citizens had,” Salas said Wednesday. “We really just felt we would not be able to meet the timelines.”

If elections employees had pushed forward with the equipment purchase, they would have had seven months to find and select a manufacturer, purchase machines and train workers to use them in time for August primaries.
SNIP.........Peter Richards, one of dozens of activists who criticized the clerk’s office after November 2004, praised officials Wednesday for waiting until election machine guidelines are better defined.

SNIP..........The clerk’s office may use the recent barrage of e-mailed suggestions from the public as a guide when shopping for new equipment next year, Liss said.

Officials are considering posting the public comments on the county’s Web site later this week, he said.

2. Ah, yes. Colorado.

There's a story about that on todays Daily Thread.

I like all these mini revolts, er, um, I mean, delays.
