A NY Republican's View of HAVA Compliance
Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 04:03 AM by Bill Bored
I said it before: Vive la resistance!

Larry Rockefeller: "I submit these comments because the regulations, if adopted, will unconstitutionally and illegally impair New Yorkers' fundamental right to vote."

1. Why do they HATE HAVA?

And WHY, Bill, WHY, do you continue reporting such stories that challenge conventional ignorance?

The information here threatens Traditional HAVA Values. It threatens all the job creation mustered by voting machine companies. It threatens all the people lining their pocket with HAVA lobbying funds.

You did the same thing trying to get people to look at that election in Cumberland where a hand-count PROVED that e-voting threw the race. You're a trouble-maker, Bill.

Stop it, you luddite. Otherwise, we'll all be voting with paper ballots and lever machines.

Oh, yeah. And you New Yawkers talk funny.

2.  HELLOOOO!!! So, you guys don't think this is COOL?
Is this the Election Reform Forum or WHAT!?

You LIKE HAVA or something?

You don't get the fact that a NY Rockefeller Republican (literally) is saying we shouldn't even COMPLY with HAVA until all the voting system problems have been fixed and we know who owns the vendors and we can see the source code, etc., etc., etc?

The guy is practically a Land Shark and nobody even thinks it's worth commenting on? And he's a Rockefeller!

Are you guys on drugs or something?

Are you bumping into walls in some sort of Exit-Poll-Data-induced stupor?

Don't you know the DoJ may be suing NY State over this crap and it seems that both political parties in the state are probably going to fight them tooth and nail and tell them to stick their fraudulent voting systems where the sun don't shine (or to keep them in Florida where it does)?

OK, go back to your exit polls then. Nothing to see here.

Run your parallel elections, and beg your SoSs and your courts for your audits and recounts and your legislatures for your paper trails.

We'll just have to carry this water alone here in NY.

You don't have to thank us. We took that hit on 9/11 for you too and we didn't complain. Still voted to oust the Shrubbies by a landslide!

Thanks for your support America!

But at least READ THE FRICKIN' PDF in the original post please! You might learn something about Election Reform -- New York style.

4. A lesson is how to win friends and allies
NOT.

Thanks, BB, for reminding us why New Yorkers think they are soooooo important.

But, hey, all those states ahead of you on this issue don't matter, right?

</snark>

5. Who else is doing this BTD.

PA, perhaps? I see that a PA Rep is going to intro legis. to Congress seeking to delay HAVA implementation.

6. Of course they matter!

We have learned from those who've experienced this debacle first hand in other states -- willingly and otherwise. And we owe them a debt of gratitude.

I was just a bit miffed that NO ONE on this so-called Election Reform Forum, except Wilms, even bothered to comment on this amazing piece of public testimony -- from a Republican no less -- that so clearly spells out the need NOT to comply with HAVA until the risks to, and the impairment of, our Constitutional rights can be safely mitigated. That's all.

If other states took the same tack, how long do you think it would be before HAVA would be overturned, or these junk voting systems would be fixed?

My anger is not against any other state though -- it's with the lack of interest in this subject on THIS message board. If I had posted some dribble about exit polls, or a zillion to 1 odds or something, I'd be up all night reading the replies. But here's something I thought was a bit more substantive and not a peep. WTF?

Vive la resistance!

Peace.

9. Too bad they didn't get Mark Crispin Miller to write a Forward.
Or maybe they should have said that Kerry really won. Or that exit polls are proof.

That would get the frogs jumpin'!

At least you got this guys attention.

Thanks!

We should make a point of spreading this to other magnates as well as to one-another.

14. No need to get carried away, but...
it sure does show how low they've sunk.

What I don't get is why their rank and file are so oblivious to it.

On the other hand, the stolen election explains a lot.
Republicans for Kerry were totally screwed!
