Voting machine concern sparks meeting

John C. Stickler

1/27/2006 7:34:00 PM

The recent announcement that Riverside County has approved the purchase of Sequoia electronic voting machines for use in the June primary election has alarmed local citizens familiar with the issue of potential voting fraud. The Democracy For America Temecula Valley chapter, a nonpartisan civic group, will host a public meeting on Wednesday, February 1, to review and discuss possible action regarding the disturbing situation in Riverside County. Of concern is the fact that the board of supervisors has voted to spend $14.2 million on equipment that has not yet been qualified by the federal government or certified by the state to 2002 federal standards.

Location of the meeting is the Murrieta Sizzler restaurant in the Ralph’s shopping center north of Murrieta Hot Springs Road, just east of the I-215. Time is 7 p.m. Attendees may purchase a cafeteria meal beforehand. For details call Jerry or Maxine at (951) 694-6582.

3. Interesting...
...especially it started as "Dean for America"...

I didn't realize it was being billed as nonpartisan.

4. It supports "Socially progressive, fiscally responsible" candidates......
and ideologies. If that happens to be a Dem, Green, Rep (like that'll happen, but possible, I suppose) or Lib, then so be it.
