5. I beg your forgiveness, Sir, on grounds of my IGNORANCE |

It has been so long since I was employed, that the entire concept of "9 to 5" is like a vague memory of a distant country...
I can still UNDERSTAND the language of the employed, if they speak slowly... but I cannot reply to them(you) in their native tongue.

if we could only get one of them vendors to get a blow-job in the White House then it would be on Tee Vee all channels 24/7. Wouldn't that be nice.

There are some who might believe that there's reason not to trust these shady companies (or any companies) with the cornersone of democracy, now that it's been on the Tee Vee. Even some of our fine representatives might take a TV news report more seriously than, say, Conyers' report. (sigh).
It's not a blow-the-lid-off report, but it's better than I'm accustomed to on the Corporate Snooze. WOrth forwarding to other news orgs (w/ request to do same), Board of Elections officials, etc.

11. Wow! What a documentary! To bad they goofed. |
|
Worse than the promotion of DRE's, I was disappointed that they promoted VVTPR (Voter Verified Toilet Paper Roll).
And what about the software programmers who were convicted of programing theftware? That would have been nice.
Accupoll is going bankrupt! Under SEC investigation. Yikes, we thought they were one of the not as bad guys.
That's the election business, for ya.

12. AccuPoll has NOT gone bankrupt as of yet. |

Edited on Sat Feb-18-06 07:27 AM by demodonkey
Allegheny County activists met with their officers last week in Pittsburgh and AccuPoll also presented to the County Board of Elections. AccuPoll said that they can still provide machines and training for November 2006. However they haven't gotten a lot of sales in the USA, which some of us believe was due to Shamos and the PA Dept. of State making such a fuss about not certifying their Voter-Verified Paper Record (even though they ARE certified without paper and are heads and shoulders above Diebold, ES&S, and others even without it!)
As for the SEC, I believe that is due to their financial condition, not due to any wrongdoing by the company.
AccuPoll has run elections in Europe, and apparently they are far better received there than here where we cling to Diebold and ES&S, etc. Another example of how the USA leads the world in Democracy, huh?

I think we did talk awhile ago about them hurting financially.
What's the beef with the VVPR?

16. Shamos says PA voters will carry VVPR out of the poll and sell their vote. |
|
Never mind that no one carries other forms of paper ballots out of polling places now. :banghead: GEESH!
And there WAS a 35-character ballot key on there that he believed could somehow be memorized to identify whose ballot it was and thus it violated the secrecy of the vote. AccuPoll has since removed the ballot key from the printout.

I could imagine Multiple 35-character Ballot Key Memorizing Capable Rovian Brown-Shirts deployed to intimidate voters. So maybe Shamos is looking out for our long-term intersts. :D
As for people carrying other forms of paper ballots out of polling places, that would certainly prevent their vote from being counted. So I'm not sure it would command a high price on the "voter-fraud" market.
Has AccuPoll looked into a lockbox of sort to deal with this issue?
