Edited on Mon May-01-06 04:58 PM by Bill Bored

Just say "No!" Trust but verify!
(Oh, and the NY Dems think this is cool too!)

Department of Justice Agrees to New York Plan to Delay HAVA Implementation

By Bo Lipari New Yorkers for Verified Voting www.nyvv.org

http://www.votetrustusa.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1246&Itemid=113

"the United States is mindful at this late date of the potential for disruption of the federal election process in New York if plans for full HAVA compliance are implemented in too hasty a manner"
OR AT ALL FOR THAT MATTER!

I'm proud to be an New Yorker!
Cause at least I know I'm HAVA-Free!

Come on...sing it with me everybody! ;)

1. Wonderful news for all NY voters!
:woohoo:

"However, and with great reluctance, the United States recognizes that the State’s inaction and delay have created the potential for electoral disarray if the State is required to attempt replacement of all lever machines and achieve complete voting systems accessibility by the fall, and we do not seek to require such actions where such disarray is, as here, a likely result. We thus will not oppose, given the particulars of this situation, as detailed below, the State’s plan for limited HAVA voting systems compliance for the fall federal elections, in light of all assertions by the State that full compliance is impossible."

For once NY's historic propensity for "inaction and delay" has worked in NYers favor. :D :woohoo:

5. When you call out the biggest kid, sometimes you get your ass kicked.
RECOMMENDED.

New York, my kind of state, (well city, home for 10 years).

You do not mess with New York in the legal arena. They're too damn smart and New York
has the best lawyers in the world. Why would some * co DOJ lawyers scare New York.

 EAC  DOJ  HAVA

12. Thank you DU!
I think you guys are really starting to catch on!

BTW, we have some pretty good e-voting systems standards too, just in case we actually have to use them! Doug Jones, Rebecca Mercui and some DUers from North Carolina helped us write 'em. (Always have a contingency plan, right?)

And we ain't done yet.
