Diebold and Ohio: Nothing ever changes

SNIP...While Ohio faces continued problems with their voting machines, one thing is becoming readily apparant: One man, one vote is no longer considered the standard. The AP is reporting a host of new problems with Ohio’s voting system after Tuesday’s primary election:

Being the one who advised Michael Badnarik to take Ohio to court after the 2004 elections, I’ve been following that state’s response in cleaning up their system. The one thing which is becoming quite clear over time is that the standard for determining if an election result is valid deals with statisitics and no longer relies on the age-old tradition of one man, one vote. Here’s an example:

Glitches were reported across the state, and a few local races remained undecided Wednesday while counting continued. The number of outstanding votes was too small to affect races for governor, Congress and statewide offices

“We’ve had poll workers with the old system who after 10 years still made mistakes,” Damschroder said. “It’s going to be a learning curve no matter what we do.”

See how they excuse themselves from being 100% accurate:

1. What the hell is the learning curve?
ATMs get millions upon millions of transactions correct every day. If these "electronic voting machines" and the databases they were based on are doing their jobs right there should be no learning curve.

I really don't know how they can go on talking about how difficult it is. It's not hard to come up with a good, confirmable, electronic voting system. I'm really amazed that people let these losers get away with the "it's hard work" whine for so long.

2. I know this may be a little "Off the Wall"..But...
...Why not issue "credit Card Type Voters Cards" (with the magnetic strip on them) and let the voters
vote the same way you get dough from an ATM?
I mean, yeah..Banks sometime make errors but I (Think) it's something like 1 out of 350,000 transactions..
Probably not enought to affect any Race.

Each bank could report the votes to a major "Center" in that area.
Christ..we couldn't do any worse than the way it is now.. :)

3. ATMs have plenty of observers
each and every account holder is observing the Diebold ATMs, thats what keeps the ATMS accurate to the penny. Thats not the case with Diebold voting machines. B-)
