Found on DU! Talk about this forum!
Following election talk on DU is a hobby of mine. Came across these two separate posts on DU. They seem to be saying that we are full of bad info and we dazzle with bullshit? Say it ain't so.

"..MOSTLY a whole lot of bad information."
-----------------

"Thanks, dick. I've been reading the election fraud posts since the 2004 election and I STILL can't keep it straight - which is part of the problem: they dazzle with bullshit."

5. BeFree, just what are you doing? Since you won't put this in context
Edited on Sat May-06-06 01:42 PM by Kurovski
I will.

BF is referring to a response I gave to someone who asked why the matter of election reform isn't at the top of our list:

"Seriously, it's not a sexy topic, it can get confusing. The media, Republicans and some Dems have expended a great deal of energy in making even the thought of a stolen election unpopular if not unthinkable.

People don't like stepping out front when they see that people who do are treated viciously, or considered "nutjobs". Partly groupthink, partly denial, and maybe a whole lot of bad information."

Amend that to "...MOSTLY a whole lot of bad information."

--The reference is to information and memes such as that which is spread by Paul Begala, not the ER forum.

I wish that you'd let us know where the other quote is from, so that we may see if you also misinterpreted that as well.

6. K, Kurovski
I wasn't clear about what you were saying. Still ain't, but you weren't talking about us putting out bad info, got that. Thanks. I agree.

Lets face it, this forum goes through the wringer, and a casual observer could go away wondering just what the hell we're doing. I guess what I am trying to point out is how careful we should be, and try hard to explain the case in clear terms so that others can understand this complicated situation.

7. Someone asked why election reform was not the top priority for Democrats.
I gave my views on the matter. I made it as clear as I am able to.

I think you may have been confused in believing that the question was about the ER forum. the questioner even capitalized "Election Reform." The following is the question as written:

"Why is this topic not at the top of our list? Especially here at DU? Without REAL Election Reform, we are almost surely doomed to continue losing..."

Still in all, what was going to be the benefit to the ER forum in posting bad-mouthing from other DUers (perceived or actual)?

Peace.

8. Benefit?
Who says anything has to benefit anything? I took you wrong, that's all.

But if this forum or any other enterprise is to be of real benefit, then it must be clearly understood. Unity of a message, progress, and offered solutions to a stated problem must be able to be fathomed by any and everyone for anything to become a benefit- don't you agree?

What was the need?

the message gets out there.

As an example, goclark had no problem in understanding what I said regarding the message you misinterpreted. She found the video of Mark Crispin Miller to be absolutely inspiring. My OP was about urging individuals to give Miller a listen.

When another individual posted a link to the Election forum, here is how goclark responded:

"Thanks rman, I have posted to that forum
and for me, Josetta Average Voter, the answers are far too complicated for US.

It is a wonderful forum for computer geeks and those that can read 500 words or more to look for answers.

It is a wonderful forum for those that want to learn the technical points and/or to discover the latest laws and updates for each state."

I'm with goclark, I know far less than the brilliant experts in ER. the best I can do is support the forum and grasp and retain what I can. But I know how to call bullshit on the press when they manipulate America's perception of our elections, and when they blackout Miller's book. When they try to paint concerned citizens as "conspiracy theorists", It doesn't bother me to dump the whole bucket of paint onto their dithering heads.

I apologise for being so um, "prickly". All I ask is that you PM me first for clarification in any future matter such as this, should one ever arise.

Peace?

12. Peace?
I hope so. Forgive me for misinterpreting your comment. And thank you for owning up to it and making me understand better. No harm, no foul, at least from your side. I am the one who was mistaken.

We are in this together. We all need each other to stand and fight this greatest of all misadventures of American democracy. I pray that I never alienate anyone who stands for our cause, and I'm glad to see that, after all, I did not alienate you.

Peace.
