Why are the electronic voting machines useful for
the disabled? I can't think of a reason why they are better than large print ballots? Do many disabled come to the polls to vote?

And, wouldn't it be a good idea for high school seniors be poll workers? It would give them a good lesson in civics and a good activity to put on their college application.

1. Large print is not the only adaptation necessary for disabilities.
Maybe some people have trouble filling in the bubble. There might be lots of legit reasons.

2. They could use absentee ballots.
Just say no to e-voting. I would never vote in a computer.

Many of the stands/bases make DREs too high for the Wheelchair voter. Here is an example, the Sequoia Advantage DRE:

Here are the Voluntary standards:

On Edit, recommended.

5. thanks for the picture
thanks Foger, good picture of wheelchair user with Sequoia.

Very good.

I am trying to be more up on disabled accessibility,
since our state has ignored that community.
They think if they contact a blind person, they have done enough.

I have made contact with a gentleman who operates in an office that
advocates for all disabilities, and believe he can provide
a great voice for disabled in my state.

The SBOE hasn't asked him, and the disabled advocate organizations
really appreciate that we are bringing this conversation to them.

it will happen...

Your writing on what really is accessible and what the standards actually do say
is very helpful.

6. The best I saw - was in Broward Cnty FLorida, A Poll worker
carried an ES&S DRE to a person in a car, placed it in the drivers lap. That makes sense for a whellchair voter.
