Just got this a few mins ago:

Can you smell 'disenfranchisement' in the air off of Huntington Beach? Well, I can! Here's the dirt straight from my inbox ---
------------------------------------------

This message was sent by your Democracy for America - Orange County organizer, Susan Kopicki.

Dear DFA-OC Member,
Please read the press release below from the Orange County Democratic Party. Hundreds, maybe thousands, of OC Democrats have been fraudulently switched to Republican registration and the Registrar of Voters is avoiding fixing the problem, a problem that could disenfranchise hundreds or thousands of OC Democrats on June 6.

Attend the press conference if possible.
Thanks,
DFA-OC
Melahat Rafiei
Susan Kopicki

3. And this is how they plan to beat Busby.
Laws and common decency do not hinder these thugs. This is not the party of
Dwight Eisenhower or Barry Goldwater or Eve Dirkson or Abe Lincoln some republicans
might very well be people of good will but the leadership, corporate powers, Rush listeners,
and Christian right wingers are just thugs who only understand one thing .... power.

However this does show how scared the repugs are .... fixing votes in very republican
Orange County.

4. Party affiliation isn't a big deal but ELIGIBILITY is ...
You can be a "registered" Thug and vote Democratic, but if they re-registered these Democrats too late for them to be ELIGIBLE to vote, then that's HUGE FRAUD. Can they re-register people without them knowing it? (I haven't re-registered in the past 7 years and haven't moved, either -- do I need to worry about whether I'm eligible to vote in June?)

5. Republican registered votes are the easiest to steal.
Seriously, this is would be the place to start the stealing from. Assume all Republican registered voters always vote Republican. Sounds like they need more Republican registrations or the results won't compute.

6. This fiasco is due to rethug organizations hiring people to register
eligible voters -- BUT only paying them for the rethug registrations.

These "bounty hunters" switched registrants' party affiliation in order to make more money.

11. Why this is a BIG DEAL >>>
One's first reaction to this might be; "So what? After all people will still vote how they want."

But it's the artificially high total of registered Repubs that provides cover for all other methods of election theft.

This is how you avoid huge red flags like 100%+ turnout and drastic conflict with exit poll data.

12. I live here behind the Orange Curtain
This needs to be on the front page of the OC Register. Yes, it is this very conservative county's right leaning paper but if enough of us show up for the press conference Thursday morning maybe we could force it. They do, on occasion, run a real story. Any thoughts from fellow OC dems?

'SANTA ANA, CA Frank Barbaro, Chair of the Democratic Party of Orange County will conduct a press conference at 8am on Thursday, May 25, 2006 at the Orange County Registrar of Voters 1300 S. Grand Avenue in front of Building C.'
