Public Attention to Election Reform Now Hurts GOP's Fall Coffers |
|
I have a theory about why Rove is trying so hard to distract the news media from RFK Jr's story and the whole issue of election fraud and reform RIGHT NOW. With Al Gonzales in charge of the DOJ and the GOP in charge of Congress, it isnt as if any real changes will be made in the law, no matter how hard the news media and the American people complain. Most Americans want Cheney out and the war in Iraq to end, and that isnt happening.
I think that the RNC may be falling behind in money raising for this fall's election. I have no proof, but usually the Republicans like to brag about how much money they have raised in order to show that they are still America's sweetheart party. I haven't been hearing any of that this year. What if Big Business knows what we all know--that with a majority of Americans favoring Democratic control of Congress, the RNC's only chance of retaining control of both houses is election fraud?
If you were a cash strapped businessman in any field except oil and you had limited campaign contribution dollars, you want to give them to the winners, right? If you are reading and hearing news stories about election fraud and about demands to clean up election fraud and fix voting machines and help more people vote, you would probably start writing that check to the Democratic Congressional Commitee. If you heard stories about states actually doing anything to correct the problems, you would probably cancel any plans you might have had to attend a GOP fundraiser.
It is just a hunch, but everytime another newspaper prints an article about E-voting problems, I am betting it costs the RNC money in campaign contributions. Every time someone explains Election 2004 and suggests that we can keep the same thing from happening again, it hurts them in the pocketbook.
So, keeo publicizing and explaining and fixing and correcting, all the way up until the election. And remember, every person whose legally entitled vote is saved may also be a few thousand dollars less that the GOP will not have to spend.

1. Yeah, we are having an impact |

Just look at the effort put into keeping us from talking about the exit-polls. If we hadn't kept the story alive (TIA, TIA!) they wouldn't be attacking RFK with so much fanaticism.
Neat hunch, McCamy, lets hope we are effecting them in the pocket book. Now that you mention it, the only fund raising stories are about Dean's 50 state strategy. I did read a warpublican friend's emails the other day and E. Dole was asking, no, make that begging, for money.
We are on the right track and putting together a pretty tough roadblock to keep the warpublican train from rolling over us and into another over the cliff adventure. Lets keep putting those pieces together, eh?
