time to get involved again-- what's happening?
Edited on Thu Jul-13-06 05:57 PM by Kashka-Kat
was involved w 04 election and its consequences (incl. Ohio recount) but had to disengage for awhile for my mental health--not only was the evidence of stolen election mind-boggling there was also this strangely contagious inertia or depression amongst many of us--that was the truly depressing thing, so many people I knew just did NOT want to hear about it when I was wanting to just shake them and scream why aren't we all out in the streets?

I am wondering what if anything is being done in anticipation of the 06 election--assuming Robt Kennedy law suits don't take down the electronic voting corporations fast enough ... I really don't know enough to say what can be done, or what should be done--the only thing I can think of is to have some kind of independent election observation system in place to systematically document what happens. Seems to me I remember lots of people painstakingly trying to recreate or collect data and info after the fact instead of proactively collecting it before and during. Like recapturing the initial exit polls before they were altered. (They may be actually scrapping the exit polls altogether next time around thinking its THOSE that are flawed instead of the election results.) If the Democratic party isn't going to initiate anything, if there won't be any observers sent from the UN or anything like that ... what functions do observers do that can be perhaps done by activist citizens?

I just know from other political or activist work I've done that documentation and verification is the key... otherwise you're just operating in the realm of theory and opinion.

Anyway if someone could point me in the right direction Id greatly appreciate it-- who if anyone is strategizing or planning for next time around?

1. A few things...
  1. EIRS and the Election Protection Hotline will be functioning. Verified Voting is preparing another database focused on disenfranchisement and e-voting machine problems.

  2. Efforts are moving forward in various district for parallel elections.

  3. Several poll worker educational handbooks are in the works.

  4. An independent film is in final editing.

  5. In addition to RFK Jr.'s, litigation is on the move in Georgia, Kentucky, Colorado, California (I know I'm missing some).

  6. A new action-oriented Election Integrity collaborative web site just rolled out (go to: http://electiondefensealliance.org and join up).

  7. Election Integrity activists are currently at the NASS convention making contacts, building relationships, and educating SoSes.

  8. Do Not Concede education is being directed to Democratic candidates by the DNC and Election Integrity activists.

  9. The disaster of e-voting is beginning to break through the Wall of Silence (Lou Dobbs, Catherine Crier, WP, NYT, etc.).

  10. Other initiatives are in the works but not ready to make public.

Oh, and then there are the Election Integrity candidates running this year:
(chck some of them out: http://www.51capitalmarch.com/#1)

Welcome back, Kashka-Kat!
