Voting rights activists: Please join Preserve Our Democracy:
Group URL: http://groups.myspace.com/podvotingrights

The main purpose of this group is to spread awareness about the election fraud issue. I am seeking to implement a simple, structured stratgey to translate our internet activism into real world on-the-ground community activism. I realize that many of you may already be doing this, but I think if we structure our actions and provide a uniform message, it will increase our success.

I put out one, simple, measurable action alert per week that all members can do. This week it is a letter to the editor (already written with a link to the site to send out to papers). Next week, we will check in with our localities to find out what specific voting machines are used in our district and what security measures and accuracy tests are performed to ensure accurate results. I have been recruiting on myspace (I know, Murdock, I can't stand him either, but it is a great way to reach a young, active audience & I figure they are monitoring us no matter where we go on the web).

I would love to have people active on the DU election forum join up. The group needs more members, especially self-motivated people that can really contribute.

Thanks very much all!

Debbie

1. This is a fantastic, idea, Debbie!!!
What a great strategy to use MySpace for this kind of effort. Absolutely brilliant! And it should be enormously effective. One note of caution is that newspaper editors catch on pretty quickly when the same letter is sent by a lot of people and they won't print it. They call it "astroturfing." It's better to give your budding activists a sample letter to the editor and a list of 3 or 4 talking points to write in their own words.

Good luck!
