We are fighting this battle here
so we don’t have to fight it there
- in 435 Congressional Districts in November.
Our Mission Statement:
On June 6, 2006 San Diego County held a deeply flawed Special Election, in which votes were illegally cast on insecure, de-certified machines. The mission of the CA-50 Election Integrity group is to ensure that citizens of this district--indeed, every congressional district across the county--have the absolute right to cast their ballots in free and fair elections, in which votes are cast legally, counted correctly, with proper oversight, and in accordance with state and federal laws. On June 6, votes were attempted to be cast and were later counted on uncertified machines that had been left throughout the county in unsecured locations (like cars).
The San Diego Registrar of voters, Michael Haas, has further refused to provide chain of custody documents for the machines, as required by law, and has sought to charge exorbitant fees to count even a handful of precincts. These practices, if continued throughout the country in each! of the 435 House seats up for election, would represent a fundamental threat to democratic rule in the United Sates. They must be stopped now so they will not be repeated. The special election in CA-50 was a warning sign that if we continue on the current path, the uncertainty, turmoil, and division resulting from the 2000 Bush v. Gore decision will be repeated on a national scale, in every congressional district in the country, and with devastating economic drain.
Our organization, the CA 50 Action Committee can be visited at www.nosleepovers.org
We will raise funds over the internet at www.VelvetRevolution.us. Please join us.
These funds will be used for filing election contests, paying for hand counts, and preparing lawsuits, litigation briefs, etc.; it will be monitored by at least two members of the CA-50 steering team. CA-50 will also participate in public education programs on the seriousness of the machine counting problems, and work with the State Legislature to implement the most rigorous, stable, and secure voting systems available to California citizens.
