Barbara Boxer sponsoring (S.3963) the Confidence in Voting Act
to the Senate in time for the November election. This is what she has to say in her email:

Dear Friend:

Like you, I believe that voting counts and that all votes should be counted. Yet many people question whether all votes actually get counted.

While technology brings us almost immediate vote counts, it is important that we not become wholly reliant on technology. As a bipartisan report recently
concluded, "it will be essential this year that jurisdictions have backup and contingency plans that anticipate a wide range of possible failures in their
electronic voting systems.”

To address this critical issue, I have introduced the Confidence in Voting Act(S.3943) in the Senate. My bill would reimburse states for the cost of printing
paper ballots for the November 7th elections. S.3943 would help to ensure that anyone who needs or wants to use a paper ballot will be able to.

The strength of American democracy depends on fair and accurate elections where every vote counts and is counted. The Confidence in Voting Act will help to
safeguard the integrity of our electoral process, which is the most fundamental necessity for the functioning of our democracy.

Sincerely,

Barbara Boxer
United States Senator

Let's hope she gets it through.

1. She's going in with strong support for this bill.
Dodd, who HAS been the voting machine pointman for Dems (guess he NOW believes the fraud stories) also, Kerry and Feingold joined the legislation, too, as well as submitted another election bill.

Looks like there is now a veritable SQUAD in the senate taking the issue seriously. Just last year, Dodd was poopoohing machine fraud, which made it difficult, since he was leading the issue for Dem party.

2. It is, indeed, such a thrill to see concern about election fraud
starting to penetrate to the highest levels.

However, given the publiclown aversion to allowing any democratic bills to receive a fair hearing, I suspect it will go nowhere.

Ms. Boxer is to be commended for this action.

3. Republicans fighting the legislation. Another email from BB.
Forward this message to a friend today!

Last week, in the wake of numerous problems with electronic voting machines in recent primary elections, I asked for your help to urge Congress to support my "Confidence in Voting Act" -- a bill that would make paper ballots available at every polling place to any voter who wants one.

More than 15,000 people joined our effort and emailed their Members of Congress about this important legislation. Thank you so much for your support!

While every Democratic Senator stood with us -- in particular, Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT), an original co-author of the "Help America Vote Act" -- the Republicans stopped us and refused to allow this common-sense legislation to move forward.

I'm very disappointed that the Republican Party continues to play politics with the integrity of our elections system. And really, there is only one conclusion that I can reach: Democratic Senators are united in their desire to restore confidence in our voting system, while Republican Senators are supporting the status quo...again!

So what do we do now? Over the next 35 days we must redouble our efforts to get everyone we know -- our friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues -- out to vote on Election Day. In local races, in statewide races, in House races, and in Senate races, every single vote is incredibly important -- especially with the future of our country on the line.

Then, once Democrats are in control of Congress -- as well as more governors' offices and statehouses -- we'll do the work that the Republicans refuse to do: address the real problems that still exist in our nation's elections system.

Thanks for your continued support!

In Friendship,

Barbara Boxer
U.S. Senator

P.S. Thank you so much for your overwhelming response to last week's online fundraising drive for Jon Tester in Montana, Sheldon Whitehouse in Rhode Island, Jim Webb in Virginia, and our own PAC for a Change! In the span of less than 72 hours, our PAC for a Change online community raised more than $100,000. You're simply amazing -- and these 3 outstanding Democratic candidates are even stronger for it. To help all of the candidates endorsed by PAC for a Change, please visit our ActBlue fundraising page.

Shouldn't Repugs want honest elections too? It could be their candidate that benefits. It makes me believe more and more that they like dirty elections so that they can rig them. They know it's the only way that they can win.
