It's Nov 8 and we've just found out the Dems narrowly lost the House
And only picked up 4 seats in the Senate. Stories are trickling into DU about vote suppression, hacked machines, voter intimidation, long lines, etc.

The mainstream media is spinning an elaborate yarn about all the closeted Bush supporters who must not have told the truth to those pollsters who said that the Democrats would be expected to pick up major gains this election. They're chalking up the surprising Republican victories to soccer moms who just didn't trust the Democrats on security, and fiscal conservatives who are elated over the Dow and lower gas prices.

As you sit and watch the tube, with a sick, heavy feeling in your stomach, you think "I wish I had a time machine to go back to three weeks ago, so we could've done something."

What would you have done differently?

What can we do right now?

1. Sorry, I can't go there with you right now.
If and when it happens, I'll talk about what we could have done differently. Right now, we have to GOTV, volunteer to be a poll watcher (with camera, video if possible) and think positive.

I call bs on this nonsense. See:

Kerry has raised and donated over $11 million to candidates

11. Get the message out that we all have to watch the vote sites closely
Day and night, especially at night! If they try to take a machine out or work on one STOP THEM. Use any excuse, "I own that machine, prove that I don't!" or "that guy moving that machine just attacked..." or whatever, then call Conyers Office Fraud line quickly (1-202-863-8000). Slow down the offense then call!

After your vote stay and watch for anything suspicious... Video video video... Pictures Pictures Pictures... asl questions

12. This:

If, in the world of quantum physics, all things are possible and reality is what we choose to focus on... Try this. It can't hurt. Spread the word.

If only 3 percent of the U.S. population takes 60 seconds to do this exercise every day, we can make a massive difference. This is how it works: for 60 seconds each day visualize your favored candidate elected as our next . See the celebrations and excitement and sense of fulfillment across America. See yourself rejoicing with people in your home, neighborhood, and workplace. See people all over the world trusting and building real alliance with the US! See your candidate being sworn into office. Feel the hope, joy, and gratitude. Believe it is possible.

Now, imagine your candidates restoring greater wellbeing in America. See people streaming back to work. See young children getting the support they need. Visualize our teachers, police officers, single mothers, the mentally ill, and many others getting the help they deserve. See our soldiers coming home to their families. Imagine our leaders establishing greater trust and good will with other nations. See peace spreading across the world. See the Iraq conflict ending. Feel how good it will be for the environment to be protected and renewed. See hope rising across the world in the hearts and souls of all of us. See these pictures in your mind for 60 seconds every day between now and November. Be grateful that you have the gift of participating in shaping a greater country. Be grateful that you care. Believe that all this is possible—and more! And be sure to vote!

Just take yourself back to the day after election day, '04. Didn't you have a laundry list of things we "shoulda" done, that was so clear in retrospect?

Well, now, we're sitting here with the luxury of still being able to affect this thing. What are we going to do, now that there's still time?

16. Good question
Tell everyone you know, what you know about the machines.

Seek out candidates, campaign staff, and little old grannies and educate them.

Get them ready for the surprise, so they won't be so surprised and unable to act.

I ask them what they will do if Congressman Dirt, who is behind by 10 points right now, pulls ahead and wins 50 to 49?

17. We need to be ready to help voters, document, and organize
every instance of funny business we see. Every single one. We need to compile these incidents, and be ready to present them ASAP, before the media starts telling their own story.

Even if we come out 20 seats ahead, maybe we SHOULD come out 35 seats ahead!

I'm not trying to be negative, just trying to stay out in front of this.

18. First of all, we should understand those numbers are hardly at the extreme
+4 in the senate would basically be the exact over/under right now. Don't pretend it's +6 or higher just because we want it to be.

Democrats are favorites to win the House but a +14 or less would only be in the 25-30% realm of expectation right now, not the impossibility range like many posters here are estimating.

As to what I would do in the next three weeks, I would be running national commercials spotlighting the weakness of the economy in regard to lower and mid income Americans. I've already seen Larry Kudlow and others touting the 12,000+ stock market as the great untold story and that it will bail out Republicans in November.

And it has that potential, unless our voters who are being left behind storm the polls. Yesterday I saw quotes from Rush Limbaugh indicating he doesn't think young single females should be allowed to vote. He knows damn well that's the danger bracket for Republicans. Other than among blacks, Democrats net more per every 100 votes from the young single female block than any major bracket. From '94 to '02 they basically didn't participate, but there was an uptick in '04 and we need huge numbers in '06.

There is theory among Hillary supporters that her candidacy would energize that block and be the key to the White House. Dick Morris is admittedly an erratic nutcase but I heard him say that a couple of days ago, that Hillary would bring 9 million new female voters to the polls in '08 and that would be plenty to overcome her weaknesses.

19. Go Mexican
OUR RIGGED ELECTIONS
The Elephant in the Polling Booth
By Mark Crispin Miller | October 1, 2006

However, such a drive will do the Democrats, and all the rest of us, more harm than good if it fails to note a certain fact about our current situation: i.e., that the Democrats are going to lose the contest in November, even though the people will (again) be voting for them. The Bush Republicans are likely to remain in power despite the fact that only a minority will vote to have them there. That, at any rate, is what will happen if we don't start working to pre-empt it now.

Even though this election could go either way, neither way will benefit the Democrats. Either the Republicans will steal their "re-election" on Election Day, just as they did two years ago, or they will slime their way to "victory" through force and fraud and strident propaganda, as they did after Election Day 2000. Whichever strategy they use, the only way to stop it is to face it, and then shout so long and loud about it that the people finally perceive, at last, that their suspicions are entirely just—and, this time, just say no.

~snip~
For now, we must do all we can to make everyone aware of what's been going down—and, most important, what is now at stake. As the press and the Democrats have failed to call for any actual reform of the election system, Bush and Co. are now in a superb position to retain their legislative power, regardless of how people vote (or try to vote).

We need a massive turnout in November—but not because it will put Democrats in power. We need the biggest turnout ever, as a protest on behalf of free and fair elections in America. Such a turnout will make it that much harder for the Bush Republicans to spin their victory as legitimate.
~snip~

If Bush and his allies steal the next election, we won't have years to start resisting. The resistance must start on Day One, just as in Ukraine and Mexico; and so the people must be ready for the fight—and so they need to know enough to wage it, and to win it.

Watch Dr. Miller explain some if this HERE

(unless I missed some big news).
Ukraine, Romania are better examples - the candidate&voters resistance earned a recount, redress - with the actual winner taking office.

Like many of us I was devastated when Kerry conceded.
