Diebold ATM machines have started asking if you want a receipt
You notice that? Before it automatically gave you a receipt whether you want it or not. Did they start this to quash the notion that "If our atm machines can give you a paper receipt, why can't our voting machines?" Or is it because they care about our trees?

3. they're just saving money
costs less to print out fewer receipts.

and no, they don't care about the trees. besides, it's the ink that's the expensive part.

4. I think Diebold ATMs have two printers
One internal printer for audits and one external printer for customer receipts.

Can anyone verify this?

5. Our non-bank ones ask. The ones directly at the bank automatically print it.

At the convenience store they ask, but the ones at the bank always print out the receipt.

I think it's doing people a good service.

I can't tell you the times I've seen the receipts sitting on the floor, etc. with the account information on it, etc.

If people don't intend to keep the receipt, it's better for their security to not have it printed in the first place, IMO.

7. OMG!

By asking a bank customer if they want an ATM receipt, the customer could only conclude that DRE's can't produce a paper receipt!

Diebold operatives are evil geniuses I say.

We. Are. DOOMED!
