Poll question: Keep Machines Counting Our Votes?
Edited on Tue Dec-19-06 09:45 PM by BeFree
Given the recent history of voting machine's *glitches* and *lost votes* leading to elections in many places never being fairly decided, and the fact that the same companies who delivered the republican victories in 2004 are still in the lead in providing election machine systems, are you in favor of those same machines having anything to do with counting your vote in 2008?

1. There is!
Paper ballots, hand-counted. Rove couldn't do a thing with that!

10. I don't know, frankly I'm more interested
in knowing why it's been allowed here in my own backyard.

PBHC works in Germany.

8. Whoop! There it is! HCPB!
And why not? It takes too long? Heck, there's stille machined elections going down, two months later! So there goes that argument!

What else? Too expensive? Hah! Another one bites the dust!

Too accurate? Maybe that's the problem? Ahyup, that could be it, eh?

9. It would delay the election results by hours, perhaps
but we can wait for verifiable democracy, can't we? :patriot:

11. Been waiting for years
what's another coupla hours?

I've yet to see an argument yet that is a deal breaker for HCPB. But we've seen plenty of breakers on every machine, eh?

12. We used to papercount in America
before electricity. It worked then. I don't know what else to tell you.

5. Please stop saying "glitches," everyone!
The problems with electronic voting machines are much more serious and often more intentional than that!

7. Glitch! Glitch! Glitch!
I thought we were allowed to do what we wanted? <grin>

Face it, most of the people who are still getting their feet wet in this business are comfortable with the term *glitch* when first studying this issue. I think it unwise to try to introduce, indeed, force them to use terminology that really makes not much difference to them at their personal point in the journey.

Now, you and I, emlev, would of course never use the term in our intercourse, eh?
