Congress votes tomorrow in the House on funding/auditing paper ballots in 08
Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 08:57 PM by papau
Congress votes tomorrow in the House on funding paper ballots and paper ballot voting systems for November. Tell them "Vote Yes!" - Let's prove me wrong after I insisted that Brad and company would not have at another bill affecting/auditing the 08 election if they killed the now dead Holt HR 811 prior bill! The bill HR 5036 “The Emergency Election Assistance for Secure Elections Act” has 92 co-sponsors so this is doable.

Tell Your Congressional Representative to Vote for HR 5036 “The Emergency Election Assistance for Secure Elections Act”

On Tuesday, April 15 the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on a bill that will help ensure election integrity in time for the November 2008 election.

HR 5036 will provide funding for states to put in place voter-verified paper records and audit requirements in time for the 2008 general election.

Please send the letter below to your member of Congress IMMEDIATELY. The U.S. House of Representatives needs to show overwhelming bi-partisan support for this bill so the Senate will quickly act and President Bush will sign the bill.

THE LETTER BELOW

(I am writing to urge you to support H.R. 5036 when it is brought to the House Floor for a vote this Tuesday. The Emergency Election Assistance for Secure Elections Act – the “EASY” bill is needed to secure the November 2008 elections. Broad support in the House will ensure passage by the Senate and approval by the president in time for the November election rapid.

H.R. 5036 will provide states with funding for paper-based voting and audits of the vote count. The bill will assure election integrity nationally by making sure that votes are counted in a transparent and auditable way.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.)

1. Sorry I can't get over the wording
"The Emergency Election Assistance for Secure Elections Act”

They all remain silent about what the emergency is, but yet there is this big emergency.

Maybe you can get one of them to go on TV and explain to the American people where the fire is.

“The Emergency Election Assistance for Secure Elections Act”

Are they admitting that we don't have secure elections right now?

And if our elections are insecure enough that we have to hurry this "Emergency Election Assistance for Secure Elections Act"

How did our elections become insecure?

What went wrong?

Do tell.

3. We are no longer asking to Hand Count the Paper Ballots,
If an American request to do a full Hand Count of the Paper Ballots, before the Ballots leave a Polling place, the request must be met.

There has to be a procedure in place. Holt's job is to put that procedure in place.

NOW!!!

Republican Objections Derail Paper Ballot Reimbursement Bill for Now
By Molly K. Hooper, CQ Staff

<snip>Democrats put the bill on the part of Tuesday’s calendar used for noncontroversial measures. It was brought up under suspension of the rules, which requires a two-thirds vote for passage.

The final tally, 239-178, fell far short of the margin needed.

Democrats have other options for moving the bill through the House.

They could take the measure to the Rules Committee and return it to the floor under a regular order. Then, it would need only a simple majority to pass, though opponents would still have some procedural options with which to try to thwart the bill’s progress.

After the vote, Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer indicated that the measure was not likely to see further action in the House.

Hoyer, D-Md., said the measure would die in the Senate even if House Democrats brought the bill back using different procedures.<snip>

5. Avoid Corporate Crime - Hand Count The Paper Ballots
The Politicians can fool some of the people some of the time, but, they can't fool all of the people all of the time.

Hand Count the Paper Ballots before the ballots leave the polling place, its thats simple.

Want your Country back?

Hand Count the Paper Ballots before the ballots leave the polling place, its thats simple.
