Olbermann on vacation?
Can we get confirmation that this is true as dicussed here...

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=203&topic_id=49292&mesg_id=49292

If it is true than one of two things are likely:

1) Either he didn't really want to continue the story and took this way out.
-or-
2) His network really put him on vacation for continuing this story.

(or 3, that I'm a nut and it's all just a coincidence of course.)

I find #1 a little hard to swallow, considering that all he really had to do was to stop reporting on it, and eventually our emails would die down on their own.

So I can only think, that if indeed he was "asked" to take a vacation, then I am pissed off. And EVERY journalist out there should be pissed off as well. This would not be a case of whether they agree with his reporting on it, but whether they agree that the news should be censored when it shows an unpopular opinion.

I am going to compose a list of emails to other reporters, news organizations, and people within MSNBC.

If someone can please track down where this came from, I would really appreciate knowing. Thanks!

2. I don't think we know yet if he's on vacation, but the original
speculation about it came from people who were watching his show, at the end:

MSNBC's Countdown with Oberman - ordered to take vacation!?!
(speculative, based on the ending of Friday 11/12 show)

3. I agree. The overall silence is "deafening".
Been politically-aware for 35 years and I've never witnessed anything like this.

5. He IS on vacation
I did not communicate with him myself but someone who did posted the actual response she received from him from his NBC email address. In addition, a couple of other people heard from him and summarized his response this way:

He said that he is on vacation and it has been planned since August. He also said that he will continue to blog and follow the story and that his fill-in (yet unnamed) will cover the story in his absence. He will be back on Monday 11/22 unless something big warrants his return earlier.

Since it was planned, he and they (NBC) had no way of knowing in August that such a story would come alive at this time.

I trust him to continue to follow this and to blog this story. He knows how important this story is. He won't let it go now that the rest of MSM is on his heels.

Nevermind. Please kill this thread -- nothing nefarious going on here.

8. Read today's entry in his blog: he's on planned vacation.
I swear: I'm on vacation (Keith Olbermann)

SECURE UNDISCLOSED LOCATION - Golly, I’ve never been the subject of a conspiracy theory before.

Yet, there it is, flying around the internet under the byline of a Peter Coyote: that when I attempted to break the “lock-down” of coverage of the voting irregularities story in the media during Friday night’s edition of Countdown, I was fired, and left the studio in the middle of the program.

Um, no, actually. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6210240/
