I have already heard from one DUer (here since the beginning) who is working to arrange a get-together for DUers on June 14 as part of my trip. Since you fellow ER/DUers are my closest compatriots at this site, I'd love to meet any of you while I'm in LaLa land. Either post on the thread or PM me and I'll stay in touch. I'm really looking forward to this trip -- my first since being released from the federal Bureau of Prisons halfway house last year.

I'm sure there are lots of DU'ers although I haven't been around here long enough to know any of them. I just hope you don't have to experience our normal "June Gloom".

I was there last year about this time. I really enjoyed the Beach south of LA around Carlsbad or just north of that. It was cold water and mid afternoon is actually the time to go in June 'cuz of some weather pattern that clouds it up morning and evening that I heard about after my plans were made. My local friend I was visiting said that beach was superior to Venice beach which I never made it to.

I liked the museum next to the La Brea Tar Pits. Watch where you walk lest you get tar on your feet even around the museum grounds.

I ate at some great (inexpensive) Ethiopian restaurant there not very far from the Tar Pits. I'll find out the name if you are interested. The mango lassi's I had in LA at the Indian restaurants I ate at were DIVINE. The must have some great yogurt cultures they are passing around.

There is some great yoga stuff to do in LA which is my scene so PM me if you wanna know about that.
Being a chick I had fun shopping at some cute little bazaar places in the Indian section.

The Beach South of LA was definitely a highlight of my trip but I hear the Canyons above LA are also nice.
