Voting Machine Company Salesman Becomes Election Director in Texas
http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2008/06/voting-machine.html

A former software sales manager for Election Systems & Software, the largest voting machine company in the country, has been named county elections administrator for Fort Bend County in Texas.

According to a local news report, John Oldham had been regional sales manager, account manager and Illinois state manager for ES&S, which is based in Nebraska. More recently he had been an independent contractor for both ES&S and various election jurisdictions.

7. >>all around good guy
In what sense? I'm sure he's personally a nice guy, and maybe he's voting as progressive as he thinks he can (which is hardly at all), but at the moment he's a Blue Dog, which by me is "almost Republican." Not that virtually anybody doesn't beat DeLay.....

3. I'm sure lots of former ES&S salesmen are looking for work.
The company fired lots of its sales force in 2006, after they had delivered lucrative contracts from Kool-aid poisoned election officials but (we are told) before ES&S paid them their sales bonuses.

I would love to find a few disgruntled former ES&S salesmen who might want to tell us all "what (really) happened".

5. Thanks. The company also refuses to tell callers where those salesmen can be reached.
Now that's not being very polite, is it?

11. thats a switch, usually its the other way around
I would complain if he went from election official to voting machine salesman.

This is a reversal.
