2. Gainesville, FL - University of Florida
.... my neck of the woods. Alachua is traditionally Democratic but I know there were a lot of Bush bumper stickers out there and still are.

3. re alachua and history
Edited on Sun Nov-14-04 04:25 PM by bullimiami
84 1.15
88 1.03
92 r+p 1.01
96 r+p -1.2
2000 -1.39
2004 -1.31

positive is republican and negative is democratic. 1.00 would be 50/50.

if this lines up. what you see is the democratic trend of alachua county.
in 92 and 96 i took the liberty of combining the republicans and perot vs the democratic.
92 and 96 are probably skewed in reality slightly more dem because I assume that not 100% of the perot vote came from republicans.

so alachua has trended steadily democratic for 20 years
this years result is not so out of line as to be overtly suspicious but you have data here that bush did better than the trend, my biased assumption is that bush should not have done better than the trend this year but somewhat worse.

so alachua for me is a slightly suspicious.
