OH Suppression: Minority precincts given unreadable punchcards! |
|
Different weight papers don't read as well in machines!

2. This should be looked at in all states with optiscan machines |
|
Somebody should be looking at this in other states. We need to know about all of the ways that vote suppression is carried out, so that we can prevent this from continuing to occur.

As soon as I read the original post I wondered that, too. LOL! It is not exactly surprising that this is Ohio we're talking about here, is it? Not coincidental in the slightest.
I can't wait until Cobb and Badnarik get their recount after the initial count is completed.

The registration paper is the paper you register on. They don't put it into the machine to count your vote. LOL. These two are completely unrelated. :eyes:

14. Of course, I know that! But, if Blackwell wanted to use that |
|
as a way to disallow the registrations, maybe someone realized they could still use different weight card stock to disallow actual votes.

Punch card and registration paper are completely different things. Punchcard is your ballot-you poke holes in it with a little tool (those are the same that produce hanging chads and pregnant chads). The registration paper is something you submit when you register. No relationship whatsoever.

8. There would be no confusion. |
|
LOL. Those are not the same things at all. If somebody made defective punchcards-well, that is not due to confusion.

9. Not defective: Just heavier weight that does not read |
|
when put through the tabulator everytime. Clever ruse, huh?

11. If tabulator can't read the punchcard because it's on heavy paper- |
|
then the punchcard is defective, I would think.

12. No it reads some and not others so it's recorded as undervote... |
|
this is what happened in Florida. It decreases Kerry's votes and increases Bush's.

So einfach ist das! :silly:
On edit: I'm getting overwhelmed by the myriad creative ways to suppress the vote. You're talking punchcards and paper weight, I'm talking ovals and opti-scans.

15. I assume the official punchcards are mass produced, uniform, and identical |
|

Different, unreadable, punchcards would have to be introduced as a deliberate act of sabatoge. I think this is unlikely, but do want to see more facts.

That the election numbers (as they stand now) were even close, no matter how many ways the bad guys tried to invalidate registrations, quash voter turnout, limit the number of machines in Democratic districts, and nullify Democratic votes says so much about how high (and how determined) the true level of support for Kerry was.
