Well, you heard it here first folks: OPTICAL SCAN VOTING SYSTEMS ARE COMPUTERS! I know because I saw it right there on my Tee Vee! It's breaking NEWS too!

Here's Kitty Pilgrim...uh...I mean the Channel 36 team somewhere in NY:

Electronic Voting Machines Pose Problems For Chemung County (VIDEO)

ELMIRA--When Chemung County bought new electronic voting machines, they expected them to make voting easier.
But, they aren't working as well as expected. In fact, the county is having trouble just getting them up and running in time for an upcomming election.
The machines need to work for the county-wide primary on September 9th. But because they're computerized, they are difficult to set up. Th county says it will be a crunch to get all the work done in time.
"They have errors," said Mary O'Dell of the Board of Elections. "Almost everytime you do something with them, something funny happens.
Over the next year, all of the lever voting machines will soon be a thing of the past. They will gradually be replaced with fifty new, computerized voting booths. But the county didn't expect their would be so much assembly required.
"They're new and we haven't had much time to work on them. I'm afraid the training wasn't that quick for us," said technician Martin Mason.
All handicapped accessible voting for the upcomming election will be done on the new machines, but as it stands right now, that won't be quick. Casting a ballot could take up to twenty minutes.
But, the board says they are working on the problems and the machines will be ready for the primary. They hope to have a computerized voting machine at every polling place in the county by the November presidential elections.

1. And all this time I thought a paper ballot meant I wasn't voting on computers.
Funny how that works.

But the good folks of the southern tier just kind of lay it out matter of factly.

"Almost every time you do something with them, something funny happens."
