When Final Ohio recount matches Exit Polls MMMMmmmm |
|
While, IMHO, a recount will show vote fraud by the Bushies and friends, IMHO a bigger problem could be that the final count matches the "BAD" exit polls for Ohio.
This could call in question all states where the election night count did not match the exits polls for that State.
States like Florida etc could be forced to manually count again :)

The electoral college will meet in a few weeks. After that it's all over.

I would assume that if there were still big concerns about fraud and there were evidence of it, that Kerry's thousands of lawyers could file injunctions to keep the Electoral College from casting votes until everything is cleared up.

2. It could get really messy, really fast.... |
|
I'm definitely hoping the recount shows a Kerry win in Ohio. But then, who gets to decide how many of the other states get recounted, when the Repubs start yelling about how 'well, of course some of those narrowly Kerry states must really be for Bush, then!'.... and how does all of this counting get accomplished and certified in less than a month? It could be the biggest mess this country has seen in a long time, in terms of fighting for power. I can't see Bush or his supporters easily conceding a win, if it ends up (as we all hope) that Kerry won Ohio, as the polls showed.
:tinfoilhat: firmly in place for the next... well, forever, really.

3. Blackwell says Recount Costs $ 1.5 million |
|
Enough money raised for a statewide recount
Associated Press
COLUMBUS, Ohio - A statewide recount of the presidential vote appears inevitable after a pair of third-party candidates said they have collected enough money to pay for it.
The recount would be conducted after the election results are certified in early December.
Libertarian Michael Badnarik and the Green Party's David Cobb said on Monday they raised more than $150,000 in four days, mostly in small contributions.
Ohio law requires payment of $10 per precinct for a recount, or $113,600 statewide.
Badnarik and Cobb said they aren't trying to overturn President Bush's 136,000-vote victory in Ohio, but just want to ensure that all votes were counted properly in the face of concerns about Election Day irregularities.
"Our bottom line is to stand up for the integrity of the voting process because the voting process is the heart of the democratic process," said Blair Bobier, spokesman for Cobb.
Bobier said it will be worth the price to ensure the final outcome can be trusted.
Carlo LoParo, spokesman for Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell, said the actual cost to county election boards combined will be about $1.5 million.

9. Nothing would surprise me now, so.... |
|
....Does Ohio have the ability to push the state certification off until just before the national certification?
In other words, can Ohio say they are crossing the t's and dotting the i's, and need more time to certify. Their late certification, if it happens a couple of days before the national certification, would not leave enough time for a recount.
This is a state where one county excluded observers from the tabulation process, where registrations on forms with incorrect paper weight were initially discarded, where challengers to voters were allowed in the polling places, where the manufacturer of the voting machines was a fundraiser for the RNC, etc...

6. Ok, WHO CARES if time runs out after they recount Ohio?! |
|
IF the recount shows Kerry won Ohio, then he wins the election. Over and done with. I don't give a shit about recounting all of the other states with fishy exit polls before the electoral college convenes IF we bag Ohio. Of course, there will be plenty of time to launch a FULL investigation AFTER Kerry is inaugurated, but, if "time runs out" first, BUT, we take Ohio... GOOD.
Although, if a recount does give Ohio to Kerry, prepare for a bloody battle (figuratively or not) from BushCo.
THIS IS NOT OVER.
