No case so far that GOP stole the presidency
Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.

Two weeks after the presidential election, most Democrats are still working their way through the stages of grief.

Of course, some are doing it faster than others.

The folks who are still in denial are spending most of their time on the Internet, where conspiracy theories abound. In the past two weeks I have been deluged with e-mails from people who are certain Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and the Republicans found a way to steal the election.

1. Guess we'll know after the recount. How on earth does this fool think
evidence will mount before then?

There are teams of reporters and other interested parties, sifting through the allegations, trying to find evidence the election was stolen.

So far, none has emerged.

Of course not! WE need to count ballots before we can find out anything.

Oddly enough he posted the same quote Elizabeth Edwards did at the end of his story.

4. Just like during the elections
the White House says it first and then all the media carries the exact same words. They don't even bother to change the wording even a little so that it didn't become too redundant. Like that idiotic phrase "flip flop". These people only appeal to the majority of people with the intelligence of an 8th grader. Unfortunately, that appears to be the majority of voters....

7. Indeed. And, to my understanding the WH sends out talking points
to the media daily. How's that for "fair and balanced?"

6. Talking out of both sides of his mouth
He seems to be arguing both that there were serious problems with the election yet not serious enough. Yet the headline clearly explains his intent.

I think he doesn't want to believe there was fraud yet the research, so far, is hard to ignore. He puts in enough facts to keep him from looking like an idiot yet he doesn't put those facts to use.

He wants us to all go away.

9. Why would a liberal columnist want you to go away?

16. I'm Not Sure
I'm not sure but I get the same reaction from other Liberal Democrats when I bring up the problems with the vote count. They don't want to hear it. They tell me I'm a conspiracy nut. Maybe because they want to have faith in our Democracy and don't want to believe the election was stolen.

2. Why else would there be no paper trails?
Most of these e voting machines were set up just a few months prior to election with little or no test runs prior to 2 Nov. And to make matters worse, none offered the ability to keep a paper trail. Why couldn't you get a little printout with every vote, merchants do it when you go to the store. Every time I swipe my credit card, I get a receipt, or at least the option for one. Isn't my vote just as valuable as my money? I would think more so if you consider the consequences voting fraud has on democracy and our very lives. I find it very disturbing the pace at which these machines were set up and the lack of accountability for the recording.

3. "The people" are gonna love the next generation of voting machines.
Why, those new fangled machines are SO good and SO efficient that voters won't even have to bother going to their polling places! The computers will be able to read their minds and tabulate their choices. As Randi would say: It's a MIRACLE!

Oh, what? They already did that? Well, Never-mind!

8. The bottom line is this
A week before the election, Fedederal District Judge James Cohn -- who coincidentally was appointed by GWB a year earlier -- ruled in court that there is no need for paper trails.
Up to then, most of us down here were hoping that logic and democracy would take its natural course. Of course, considering the last four years, we had a better chance of winning the lottery.
Cohn also served in the Alabama National Guard in 1972 when GWB never reported for duty.

10. There is a lot more evidence there was election fraud...
Edited on Tue Nov-16-04 10:45 AM by htuttle
...than there was that Iraq had WMDs.

Yet while the 'corporate mainstream' was willing to wait and wait for 'the proof' Iraq had WMDs, they have no patience with this equally important issue.

Not suprised. Just saying...

"The absence of evidence does not mean evidence of absence."

In other words, there's no proof that there WASN'T any fraud, either.

they did endorse kerry btw so it would seem in their interest to try to be sure he actually lost florida and the vote was fair. they just cant be troubled with that sort of thing i suppose.

17. hey, remember when you told me that nominating Rendell was a huge
mistake. He's doing great as the governor. He protected our voting rights better than any of the other swing states governors.
Not too bad for a pro-choice sure loser for the Pa Governorship.

23. Yet pro-life Democrats did pretty well in PA this year
Auditor General

WAGNER, JACK (DEM) 2,741,513 (A pro-life Democrat)

PETERS, JOE (REP) 2,401,749

http://www.electionreturns.state.pa.us/default.aspx?control=StatewideReturns&ElecID=1&OfficeID=6

State Treasurer

CASEY, BOB JR. (DEM) 3,303,721 (A Pro-life Democrat: More votes than any candidate has ever recieved in PA)

PEPPER, JEAN CRAIGE (REP) 1,970,031

http://www.electionreturns.state.pa.us/default.aspx?control=StatewideReturns&ElecID=1&OfficeID=7

Attorney General

CORBETT, TOM (REP) 2,696,134

EISENHOWER, JIM (DEM) 2,578,453 (A pro-choice Democrat)

http://www.electionreturns.state.pa.us/default.aspx?control=StatewideReturns&ElecID=1&OfficeID=5

Only one of the Democratic state-wide row office candidates lost this year. The only pro-choice one.

24. Ho-hum. And Saddam had WMDs too-remember that one?
The same media who assured us Saddam had WMDs is now telling us another one.

Whenever they say "nothing to see here"- there is somthing to see.

Whenever they say "Somthing is here"- NOTHING is there.

How can we ever be sure unless this is investigated...seems there were enough "irregularities" to raise plenty of flags.
