Blackwell. Need his ass oughta there. Help
I suggest having a lawyer working on the recount to seek an injunction forcing Blackwell to recuse himself because of a conflict of interest.

Now. I need as hard evidence we can get to make the case for a conflict of interest.

Kick this topic regularly.

made stops in OH and FL the day of the election on AF1? I heard/read somewhere they weren't campaign stops. Wish we could find out why he chose to do this - maybe it would help.

2. I searched google for hours yesterday
Trying to find the same info. I hope someone actually has some good info on this.

I also was trying to search for an article I head read the day before the election from a journalist/reporter that had run into Karl Rove before he boarded AF1, that said Karl was acting all hurried and excited as if he just got some amazing news from Ohio. I'm dyin to re-read that article for context. What kind of news did he get to make him so excited?

Anyone remember this article?

8. From the media I remember....
I don't think Bush stopped in FL on election day... It was just Ohio. He voted in Crawford during the morning and they stopped in Columbus on the way back to DC. (It makes my skin crawl when that man even enters my state let alone my city.) Anyways - the official line was that he was here to thank his supporters and volunteers. I think they went down to B-C headquarters in the Brewery District area. Bush even made a GOTV phone call. There was a quote from it, "Yes, this is really him." *sigh* I wish he would have called me.... :-)

I had read somewhere that he met with Blackwell on Election Day too. Not sure if that's true or not or just speculation....

3. what more evidence do you need...
...than the fact that he co-chaired *'s campaign in Ohio?

Apparently some Dem. state senators were calling for his resignation before the election because of alleged misconduct--that could be a good place to start. Then there was the famous "card stock" issue.

It is just mind blowing that our country allows the Blackwell's and Harris' to even exist. We need to make all officals overseeing the election nonpartisan. Why is this a partisan position? WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY??????????????????????? There is no excuse for this. ITs sad and pathetic. We need to make this one of our causes along with fixing the electronic voting machines.

Almost as bad as being chair of Bush's campaign here in Ohio... Blackwell took a public stand in favor of the gay-hating homophobic Issue 1 here in Ohio. It strikes me as the highest conflict of interest that the man who is validating petitions and counting the votes should be taking positions on any of these issues.

companies?

I know I'm reaching here, but that's OK. Maybe do some google searching. If he's one of the Bushboy's we can assume he isn't doing all this for nothing.

We need a more vested interest. If we find one we need to contact the Press, Oberman, etc. and give him the info.

Better Dead Than Red
The story Ken Blackwell didn't want you to read.
BY DENISE GROLLMUS, KEVIN HOFFMAN, CHRIS MAAG AND REBECCA MEISER

In the months leading up to last week's national election, Republican Secretary of State Ken Blackwell did all he could to suppress the vote and ensure chaos. At one point, he even decreed that registrations must be submitted on 80-pound paper, lest Ohio be accused of having poor taste in pulp products. Blackwell even got a federal judge to ban the media from the polls.

Kerry Won Ohio: Just Count the Ballots at the Back of the Bus

Most voters in Ohio chose Kerry. Here's how the votes vanished.

By Greg Palast
In These Times
Friday, November 12, 2004

This February, Ken Blackwell, Ohio's Secretary of State, told his State Senate President, "The possibility of a close election with punch cards as the state’s primary voting device invites a Florida-like calamity." Blackwell, co-chair of Bush-Cheney reelection campaign, wasn't warning his fellow Republican of disaster, but boasting of an opportunity to bring in Ohio for Team Bush no matter what the voters wanted. And most voters in Ohio wanted JFK, not GWB. But their choice won't count because their votes won't be counted.
The ballots that add up to a majority for John Kerry in Ohio

He was Bush's campaign head in Ohio. That's plenty reason enough. Judges have to recuse themselves on the basis of conflict of interest on faaaaaaaaaar less than that. Given all the known shaninigans in Ohio (nevermind the ones we don't know or the ones we suspect), he has no business having any say in how the votes are counted or which ones "count".

We should all write and DEMAND that he recuse himself immediately.

Election protests thwarted

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Federal judges reject Republican challenges

By Dan Horn and Jim Siegel
Enquirer staff writers

Ohio Republicans lost their bid Friday to challenge the legitimacy of 23,000 newly registered voters before Election Day.

But now, the fight shifts to challenges that could be lodged in polling precincts on Election Day.

As for the pre-election protests, a federal appeals court in Cincinnati upheld a lower court's ban on the Republican challenges, effectively ending the GOP's attempt to review voter registrations that party officials claim may be fraudulent.

Hours after the appeals court ruling, U.S. District Judge Susan Dlott in Cincinnati ordered the cancellation of all such hearings across the state. "We're going to have consistency," Dlott said. "I intend to have uniformity in the state of Ohio."

22. Important: easy to send recusal request letter. Please send en masse
It would be better if you put it in your own words, but here is a letter.

Letter to Blackwell:
PLEASE CONTACT BLACKWELL NOW AND SAY SOMETHING LIKE: " In order for their to be no doubt in people's minds that the election was counted in a fair way, it would be best if you, as Chair of the Bush Campaign in Ohio, recused yourself from being the tie breaker in disputes between Republic and Democratic counters of Provisional Ballots. Someone non-partisan should take this role instead.

If you do not recuse yourself I want you to know that I and the whole world will be watching the Ohio count and if it seems that people were disenfranchised because of your bias, the results of this election will not seem settled or fair which will cause distress in this country and the whole world. As a result I implore you not to disenfranchise voters based on technicalities!"

BLACKWELL'S CONTACT INFO: J. Kenneth Blackwell 180 E. Broad St., 16th Floor Columbus, OH 43215

Phone: (614) 466-2585 and ask to be transferred to where you can make comment on elections

List all the reasons we can come up with why he should recuse himself besides the obvious one of him being the head Bush 'ho in Ohio... the vote suppression, 10 hour lines, his post-election provisional ballot ruling, the paper weight stupid ruling, throwing out new registrations, the hearings, etc.

32. Actually, you have to apply a lot of pressure
for him to recuse himself. The evidence of, as Bev says, 'Katherine Balckwell' actions before and after the election will be important. He had to backdown from the stance he took on paper weight/quality for those who were turning their ballots in by mail.

Next citizens of Ohio can make the biggest impact by requesting his recusal to mirror Jeb's in Florida. Getting Ohio Kerry republican voters to also call for it would be helpful. And simultaneously getting the Ohio media to pick it up in all the major media markets would be helpful. Then the rest of the country can weigh in in the interest of fairness and having every vote count and count every vote!

49. Thanks. I have this feeling that Blackwell is linked financially to
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 12:39 AM by Carl Brennan
Diebold and it may be through Public Technology Inc. If we can find a link then that sounds the alarm of corruption on a differant scale than what we now have. If you look at all of the positions that Blackwell has held and then at what he is doing now, you know it was all smoke and mirrors. He is a rotten son-of-bitch for sure and money is his master.

and can cite the 2000 precedent.

65. Homeland security money goes a long way in Ohio, West Virginia
While most of that funding is earmarked specifically for preparedness against terrorist attacks, officials find they can stretch their money to acquire resources that also provide other benefits.

...

In fiscal 2003-04, the Division of Threat Preparedness distributed $383,755 to the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department, with offices in Calhoun, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Wirt and Wood counties, and $144,745 to area hospitals.

66. Great. I may have a connection between a company that does
the Homeland Security work in state and local governments called Thinkstream and Blackwell's company PTI. PTI is a non-profit and has vast reach.

71. Blackwell linked to Accenture!!
Charlie Black, from all reports a long-time Bush confidant, heads up Accenture's lobbying arm. Burson-Marsteller is the PR firm for Accenture. Guess who teamed up with Burson-Marteller for an 18-month, $15.3 million voter education campaign- Ohio Sec of State Ken Blackwell. http://www.corporatewatch.org.uk/news/voting_machines.h... Ken Blackwell mentions Accenture on his website http://www.kenblackwell.com/accomplishments.asp?formmod...

And here's yet another Burson-Marsteller link to Accenture. Burson-Marsteller's old chairman, James Murphy, is now head of Global Managing Director of Marketing and Communications for Accenture. http://www.accenture.com/xd/xd.asp?it=enweb&xd=aboutus%... I don't know if he fits in, but it's a connection, so I'm throwing it in for discussion.

And in that same vein, here's some more info found on Charlie Black. http://www.rmpn.org/weblog/archives/permalink/002083.cf...
