Nader NH Recount Gets Underway Thursday
Not sure if anyone posted/noticed this yet. I know it was mentioned unofficially on Countdown last night but here's the official release.

1. Thanks, jhgatiss! If I'm understanding right, the recount will be this
Thursday, and not the day before Thanksgiving, which had me upset about securing the ballots over the holidays. If it's this Thursday, that is indeed great news!

8. Which could lead to a RICO lawsuit...
...and a manual recount, recanvass or re-vote in every place where Dibold Accuvote or GEMS was used?

Wouldn't THAT be interesting?

Hmmmm.

More than anything, though, it would bury the meme that this was a "fair and honest election" where the "electronic systems worked well" and "every vote was counted."

7. buzzard, I'm not sure if it is a full recount or what the percentage is.
But, I do know that all the counties he is asking for a recount has Diebold, ES&S & Sequioa optic scanner ballots in them. So, I'm sure this recount will show fraud after a recount.

I am a Canadian but have been following your group for a few months now, I never posted before because I wasn't sure if it would be welcome. Our Parliament is now discussing electronic voting but I think that unless it can be uniform and verifiable it won't be welcomed. Can't wait to see Rove sweating this one. Good Luck ALL

13. Hi, buzzard! Welcome to DU! Oh, my lord, your parliament is thinking
about implementing electronic voting? If so, you guys need to push for verifiable paper trails and audits of the machines if they are going to go that route!

Again, welcome my friend! Canadians are always welcome! :toast:

14.  This recount is so bound to imply fraud. but what worries me is how
come the repukes are not picking up their guns to stop the recount? If they were so sure that the recount would show fraud, you would think they would have started to crush democratic skulls in.

15. I don't think they can...
If Bush and friends starts taking this seriously, they will draw more media attention than we have been able to muster in the past two weeks. Its like saying, "Yes, there's something there." Or like Jed Bartlett said in a particular West Wing episdone, "I'm a human starting pistol." I think that's quite appropriate here.

Secondly, let's not forget how Karen Hughes told Bush he lost in a landslide (according to some sources). That implies to me that if there was skullduggery afoot not many people may know about it. So far, we've assumed Rove to be the guilty party (at least in part) because he was the only one that felt assured of their win even with the exit polling down. What if someone else did it? A foreign government? Or terrorists even? I can't think of a better terrorist act than reinstalling George Bush for four more years. Can you?

At any rate, I'm sure at some point the Republican legal/PR machine will wake to try to give them some cover. That's why we need to get hard proof to wake up the country before that happens or else it will be 2000 all over again.

16. wlubin, don't know. That's a hard question. Don't know if this is a
factor or not that Nader waited til 1 minute before the deadline to file the recount. Maybe this threw the Repuketards off? Maybe they weren't expecting a recount in NH? I really don't know. Plus, so much is happening in Ohio and, what appears now, in Florida. Don't know if they have enough resources to fight it. Plus, from what I understand is, the NH SoS is a Democrat. Don't know if that is a factor as well. Perhaps lawsuits could be filed to stop the recount, but it sounds like it is too late for the Repuketards to file a lawsuit.

18. Just a thought...
After reading you guys posts. What if Bush tries to blame it on terrorists? I mean can we really put it past them to say that? They may try to play it that way and thereby get the base behind them when the shit hits the fan. Nothing is too far fetched in Bizarro world. Of course the media would suddenly be behind old Georgie on getting to the bottom of that one. "How dare those jihadists try to hijack democracy!" I know this is not the most serious post but I had to say it.

19. go west young man, I don't see how that could fly! They, to me, would
have to have some serious proof that terrorist planned this! Maybe fake a video that Osama rigged the election? I dunno, but I don't see how this could fly!

But, if fraud is proven, to me, it doesn't matter how Chimp spins it, he lost the election, well, to a certain degree! At least in NH! He does not have that mandate!

What if it was Christian fundamentalists who aren't above subverting elections to stop abortions and gay marriage?

21. Don't know. But, at this point, I would just be happy to prove that the
Smirking Chimp didn't get all those votes! That to me is just sweet! I don't care what idiots did it, but just to prove that it didn't work is good enough for me! Shows how desperate these people are, whoever they are.

24. If there is fraud, they must have some kind of plausible deniability.
After all, if the central tabulators were hacked, there will probably be no way to know if it was terrorists, college kids, evil Christian fundamentalists, or Republican-brain-washed troubled adolescents in Florida. Or Rove personally, operating out of the White House. Not that I know anything much about hacking, but that's what I understand from what I've read.

So they're best off just being quiet and playing innocent.

25. It just blows my mind.....
Recounts begin here in Manchester on Thursday and I haven't seen one single mention of it in our paper. But then, The Union Leader totally favors Republicans and they adore George W.. Kerry was able to turn New Hampshire into a BLUE state, but I'm hoping they do find evidence of fraud so that the investigation will move onwards to other states. Maybe there will be some solid evidence before Keith gets back from vacation!
