Could Kerry have really thought FOR SURE he lost when he conceded?
A couple of really close states weren't even in yet. The polls hadn't even been closed for 12 hours when we heard he was conceding. Something HAS to be up and he will look like a GENIOUS if the election gets overturned. If he had still not conceded today he would be getting called every name in the book by repukes and the media would be all over him. I have a SLIGHT feeling John Kerry very well may be our next President!!!!!!!!:) Everything is just to quiet. Anybody else get these feelings?

1. I have a suspicion that
The volusia folks would have been much faster to reach for the shredders had JK been out there raising questions. As it was, with him ""out of the picture"" they relaxed, and got caught by a fast moving BBV effort.

It appears the Volusia County election officials aren't too swift. And that's a very good thing. For us! :toast:

3. I am insanely optimistic like you
Whether he ends up as Prez or not, I DO believe he played it correctly. He would have been slaughtered publically had he not conceded as a "sport". He now can quietly go about the business of a true final count of the Ohio votes.

4. Yeah, I admit when he was conceding I was PISSED!
I was sick my stomach. But a day or two later I realized if he is fighting it was 1000% the right thing to do.

10. I think too many folks on this forum
were to quick to jump the gun and pre-judge Kerry. I am not saying Kerry won, but (I think) in the DUers anger, sorrow and pain, they began to "vent", and lash out too soon.

Well, it is all in the process of healing, but it's not quite over yet.

12. I'm still optimistic
I must admit that my mood does swing, depending on the news I encounter. But, for the most part, I don't think it's time to talk about 2006 or 2008--we're not done with this election.

My hope is that Kerry has taken a very low profile intentionally. While the Smirk goes swaggering around, and while the thugs try to cover up their swindling ways, he doesn't have to worry about as much defensiveness on their parts--neither does he have to endure all the attacks from the press and every where else.

He can work without distraction. Even the denial by his lawyers that they are trying to change the election results has got to be a tactical decision. At least, this is my hope. I won't give up until the electoral college meets--or even until inauguration day.

13. John Kerry: A man of sacrifice.
John Kerry may still have had a chance to win when he conceded; however, unlike George Bush, Kerry isn't a man that is willing to use any method to become president.

Rather that damage his party by using a protracted legal struggle to win, John F. Kerry was willing to think of others before himself. (It is no suprise that he is so beloved those who served with him in Vietnam. No doubt, they saw his dedication to others first hand.) Instead of gaining control over a populace that childishly voted against him, Kerry showed that he was capable of doing something the Republicans would never do: Make a sacrifice for the unity of the country. It is unfortunate that only democrates care enough about this nation to be non-partisan.

John Kerry: a man who constantly seeks to help others and my personal hero.

17. Welcome to DU, RobertBrink!
I agree with you. John Kerry is old fashioned in many ways-- he is a principled man--unlike the man currently in the Oval Office who today made light of the "Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth" when pardoning the Thanksgiving turkey by calling for healing. This sickened me knowing that Karl Rove was responsible for the Swift Boat Smear campaign. The media loved it. How sad for our democracy that the cowardly, complicit media does not do their job. It is disheartening.

If there is any way the race can be won in Ohio, John Kerry will speak up. I have no doubt of that.

15. Still Counting
In a New England Cable News interview between Senator John F. Kerry and Alison King, Kerry pins his "loss" on the war and terrorism, and disagrees with the perception that moral values were what mattered most to the American people. When asked if he has plans for running again in 2008, Kerry ducks it and responds, "They haven't finished counting the votes yet."

22. And I have a nagging suspicion-nothing is going to change.
Kerry conceded, and G.W. Bush is our next president. And basically that looks like a sure bet at this point.

23. And Mike McCurry
McCurry said that the morning of November 3 the Kerry lawyers were saying that there was no foul play.

Lawyers saying there's no foul play?

I don't buy it. There was not enough information in to know that at that time and, besides, lawyers can always find foul play if they want to. They could get an injuction to keep Jimmy Carter from eating a peanut if they so desired.
