Washington State is another opportunity to check machine counts
Edited on Tue Nov-16-04 10:50 PM by kurtyboy
If the governor's race is within 150 votes, an automatic MANUAL recount is called for under law-- unless both candidates agree to waive this requirement!!!.

Tomorrow, the state certifies. Right now, with less than 10,000 votes left to count out of nearly 3 million, there are just THIRTY-THREE votes separating Gregoire (DEM) from Rossi (GOP). A few counties in this state use touch-screen voting, and almost every other uses some mechanical tabulation with software-supported reporting. If this goes to manual recount, it becomes an opportunity to audit the performance of computers against the reality of paper.

Don't let Gregoire agree to a machine recount if the law allows for a manual recount. Send emails to the campaign, as well as the Kerry, Nader, Bednarik, and Cobb campaigns to pressure Chris to use her right under the law to demand the manual recount!

I'll edit to add the email addresses as I get them.

Edit to add:

GREEN Party: David Cobb’s campaign manager, lynneserpe@hotmail.com

LIBERTARIAN Party: Michael Badnarik’s campaign manager, campaignmanager@badnarik.org

INDEPENDENT: Ralph Nader ----A little help please

DEMOCRATIC Party: John Kerry’s communications director, dwade@johnkerry.com

2. The count is now within TWENTY VOTES!!!
Christine Gregoire Democrat 1367346 48.87%
Dino Rossi Republican 1367365 48.87%
Ruth Bennett Libertarian 63062 2.25%

Put the pressure on the DEM nominee to have a HAND recount of the votes.

BTW, there are about 6000 votes left to count----AND we've already had a case of votes being counted twice (6200 votes in Grays Harbor County) and having to be recounted--check it out!

3. Adding Gregoire's Email
info@gregoire2004.com

Let her campaign know that the extra trouble of a manual recount is worth it--what with democracy on the line and all.....

Thanks

Kurt

4. I really want this - but the manual count has to be for all the offices,
not just governor.

5. Thanks for posting this
I heard that they counted votes twice in Grays Harbor and I am wondering if any funny business is going on. So, I definitely hope she gets a recount if she doesn't win. I will email.

8. Funny business, indeed
Grays Harbor County had actually counted all the Rossi votes twice.

I do wonder how that could have happened.

6. I agree--But
We won't get that without some reasonable cause to couant the other offices. This manual recount COULD provide that cause!

7. Agreed, However
We need cause for the other races.

This recount could aid us in getting that cause!
